Mr. Ypsi

We're now up to nine ballots, with less than an hour 'til the polls close.  Come on stalker, titanfan, formerbant, and any others - we can DO it!

Because of rumors I hear about some silly football game tonight, I may hold the polls open longer; let's go for the biggest poll yet (current record is 12).

Mr. Ypsi

Due to the Florida-Ohio State "game", and since the official d3hoops.com poll has not yet been released, the Posters' Poll balloting will remain open through mid-afternoon tomorrow (well, now today!).  I'm too tired to type it up now anyway, and still holding out hope for a few more ballots.

Well, I checked my ballot with the official "Top 25".  I have my Top 21 in the poll and 23 of 25 overall.  I even mentioned to Mr Ypsi, that those other 2 were on my radar screen, so I didn't overlook them.

I feel better about my ballot, which I sent in Sunday afternoon.

Ryan Scott (Hoops Fan)

I had 6 teams on my poll that did not appear in the Top 25 although four of the six were in the last four spots.  Also Aurora and Carthage were my "26 and 27," so I too feel pretty good about my poll.

The one screwy element is that I refuse to vote for Hope until they prove they can actually beat a halfway competitive team.

I also gave some points to Mary-Hardin Baylor and was quite surprised to see they got shut out in the real poll.

I feel good about my ballot as well, with 21 of my 25 in the top 25. I have probably downgraded St. Thomas more than most - but I didn't like their Massey rating.

t29. Lawrence 7 (2 votes: 22,23)
31.  IWU 6 (2 votes: 22,24)
t32. Averett 5 (2 votes: 22,25)

t34. Manhattanville (1 vote)
38.  Ripon 2 (1 vote)
t39. Bluffton 1
t39. UT-Dallas 1
t39. UW-Whitewater 1

NOTE: numbers in parens are range of picks; NV = not voted for.

NOTE: the .5 tallies occurred because I allowed Hoops Fan (I never rat-out voters, but he already confessed on the board!) to 'wimp-out' and list 4 teams as tied for 7th.  I was quite sympathetic to the problem and let it go THIS TIME, but no more ties accepted.  Try this approach: both teams full strength, neutral court, and Mr. Ypsi is holding a gun to your head saying "Bet!" ;D

Mr. Ypsi

Unless someone types faster than me, I'll take 'compiler's prerogative' to make the first comment.

Amherst received 5 of the 2nd place votes (and 1 3rd), but barely held on to 2nd place overall.  Three of us (myself included) are just not yet sold that they've proven anything, and voted them between 5th and 7th.  I thought Brandeis was finally their proof, until Brandeis went 0-for-the-weekend.  Williams would USUALLY be a 'signature win', but they are only 6-6 this year.  IF Amherst is still undefeated by the end of this weekend (@Tufts, @Bates), I (at least) will finally be convinced.

Ryan Scott (Hoops Fan)

I gave ten teams their highest vote and seven teams their lowest vote (although UWSP falls into both categories as do the three teams who were only given votes by me).  Not included are the ranked teams I didn't vote for at all (like Hope...and three others).

I think the only difference I had was Whitewater at 25, instead of Oxy.

Calvin sits at 7-5, Hope beat them by 22 at Calvin...........they're a little more than halfway competitive. ;D :D ;)

.........and you could say the same for half of the top 25, my own eyeballs and years of watching D3 tell me Hope is comfortably in the top 25.

Actually, he is (unwittingly) exaggerating his maverick status - besides what he mentioned, some of his other tops and bottoms were ties.  Though he is the only voter with three teams nobody else mentioned (several of us had two).

Ralph Turner

I reveiwed my ballot tonight.  I had 23 of the 25 on Pat's Top 25.  Of those 23, I had agreement with 6.  I had adjacent flips of 3 pairs of teams, e.g., my 18/17, his 17/18.  I had a concurring triad at his 12, 13 and 14 with my 14, 12 and 13.

For me, the biggest question is the NESCAC.  Fortunately, we get Amherst at Bates this weekend.

Thanks, Mr Ypsi.

Interesting. Thanks for running the poll again this year, Chuck.
