Mr. Ypsi

I owe Knightstalker an apology.  By the datestamp on his ballot email, he sent it Tuesday morning - it showed up sometime THIS afternoon!  (All I can figure is it must have been an NSA intercept, and it took them two days to decode the secret message!  If you don't hear from Mr. Ypsi or Knightstalker again, we're probably sharing quarters at Guantanamo! ;D)

When I get the chance, I'll rescore the entire first poll, giving equal weight to all ballots and including this 'submitted on time, received two days late' entry!  (I guess no more cracks about 'snail mail'! ;))

Chuck, are you going to change your name to Mr. Gitmo?

I think he should change it to Ypsi Gitmo, and embark upon a second career as either a flamenco dancer or a member of the Gipsy Kings.

I vote for flamenco dancer, I'll be his guitarist.

Well, if the NSA did detect some ominous hidden message in your ballot, you'll be there with me! ;)

This revised ballot is a holiday gift to FDF and any other Hope supporters - after the debacle in Albion, it is nice to see Hope in first (however briefly)!

I was curious how solid the 'big 5' was last week - pretty solid!  IWU and Woo had NO votes below 5th; Albion had 2 6ths, Witt had 1 7th, and Hope had 1 8th (interesting that the top two teams also had the lowest votes of any of the top 5).  And who replaced them was quite eclectic: Augie had 1 4th, Lawrence, NCC, and York each had 1 5th.

This week's poll is going to be really hard!  ;D

I nominate you for the 'understatement of the week' award!

The old 'big five' is now officially dead - it survived Albion over Hope (if 'big five' teams play each other, SOMEONE has to lose!), but my alma mater put it to rest (at least for now, he says hopefully!).  Two weeks ago I NEVER would have thought that IWU would be the drop-out!

Still, as posted on other boards, they may fall no lower than 6th (or at most 7th) simply due to lack of alternatives.  Lawrence will replace them in the top 5 (I suspect), but who else??!!

Perhaps even more than last week, this poll cries out for starting over from scratch!

You can make a case for moving Augustana ahead of Illinois Wesleyan. I've seen both teams, and Wesleyan is definitely the more balanced of the two. But Augie has a certain quality to it, a certain kind of element, that keeps it from losing ballgames. A good name for this quality might be ... "Rick Harrigan".

Wesleyan has also played a much better non-conf schedule than has Augie. However, the fact that Augie is two full games ahead of Wesleyan in the CCIW standings (4-0 to 2-2), and has joined Albion and Hope in beating the great midwestern barometer (Elmhurst), while Wesleyan has just lost to them, makes for some compelling arguments in favor of the Doggies. I'm not sure if that's the way that I'm going to fill out my own ballot, but if nothing else it's food for thought.

Mr. Ypsi

Four ballots received so far - and already 36 teams have received votes!

The top is pretty consistent (though the order differs), but it gets REAL messy once you go below about 10.

C'mon guys, I want LOTS of compiling to do tomorrow! ;D

I posted what each of Pat's top 25 did this past week.  It took me a while, so I'm not going to do it again for this one, but since they were so similar, feel free to use that as a tool (I know I will, that's why I did it!!).
