I don't know about Malta - I saw a movie that was filmed there starring Joe Don Baker and there were a lot of bad guys hanging around and I think he ate everything on the island to boot.

Ralph - I would ask Whiskey River to take my mind, but now I'm sticking to Dr. Pepper.

That does it for me.  I've always thought pictures from Malta were quite beautiful, but if Joe Don Baker's been there, it's not a vacation destination.

"4", I see the Brandeis.edu.

We need another good perspective from both the northeast and the UAA.

The tendency has been for the voters to be especially critical of the areas where they are seeing the games so as to help us voters in other parts of the country understand what is "goin' down" there.

Welcome aboard!  We are a very collegial group who try to get the poll "right" every week.

so do we want to have a go at doing a pre season poll or is that going to be a no-no?

I don't feel competent to participate (yeah, yeah - so that is different from January, how?), but I will compile it if people want to PM me.  Alternatively, since we don't really start up until January, if people just want to use this board to post their lists, that's cool.

Ralph Turner

I like the idea of us fans using this board to discuss what we know about our areas of the country.

Some schools have not even posted rosters yet.

The pre-season polls have only been released by conferences in the last 2 weeks.

Later this weekend I will look at the ASC, the SCAC and the NWC. (McMurry's first opponent is George Fox).

How does everyone feel about the new number one poll on the front page. As much as I would love to see Brandeis as number one, the OT loss on thursday makes that seem not very likely, and I am also shocked that Rochester is not on there as by default I feel they will end up as number 1 even though I am no so sure they are the number one team in the country. Who does everyone thing the new number one Will/should be, These can be two different answers.

Mr. Ypsi

My #1:

Will be: Rochester
Should be: ??  That's why the PP doesn't start 'til January! ;)

I agree!  Let's let some dust settle over the next 3-4 weeks.

We get some nice inter-regional matches by Top 25 teams over the Holidays.  At least we can get some comparisons.

Mr. Ypsi

Quite true, Ralph - I'm especially looking forward to the showdown at Cal Lu on Monday: Gallaudet vs. Caltech! ;)  (I say the Quantum Hoops guys pull it off.)

More seriously, I'm looking forward to another season of PP, and hope lots of others are beginning to study up!  I'd love it if we got everyone back from last year, plus at least 3 or 4 new voters.  While I wouldn't turn away serious new voters from anywhere, we're pretty well represented from Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan - if you can suggest participating to good candidates from elsewhere, bless you!  (I'd especially welcome new blood from both coasts.)

I'm undecided whether to start up with games thru January 6th, or wait 'til the 13th.  Thoughts?

Here's a thought, how about doing a top 20 instead top 25.  I think the mashing of teeth for those final 5 spots might keep some people from voting.

Twenty might be a number that gets a few more involved. (less time consuming, fewer teams to follow etc.)

Since its following the Holidays, Jan 13 might be a better date..........although we could do the 6th and just consider it our pre-season poll. :P

I really like the idea of voting for 20 teams and filling the Top 25 from there.

I know that my #21-25 were the teams I was watching.
