I'll be out before sunup tomorrow for work.  I'll be hanging out outside; it's supposed be 9 overnight with the temperature dropping throughout the day to a crisp 0 by the afternoon, 40 mph wind.

My fingers will be cold and the wind will make my face burn, but it won't really be too bad.  I'm more concerned about road conditions since they don't know how to move snow here.

Hoops Fan, you've made me cold just thinking about that - and I'm a Michigander!

Based on posts here and PMs, it is looking like the PP will be 9-11 voters.  I've gotten 9 definite commitments, and two more who will vote as often as they can.  I'd love to get it up to a consistent 12-13, so if you know of any other posters whose arms might be subject to twisting, twist away! ;D

I started going through teams last night.  I've got a solid 50 from which I'll choose a Top 25 and an additional 40 on my watch list in case they heat up.

I do a lot of research the first week, then adjust based on results from there.  I do all the research over again before the final poll after the tournament.

Update.  It's negative ten degrees outside right now, so I had some free time.  I did my rankings as of today.  Lots of big games tomorrow, so things might shift.  I ended up ranking 57 schools with an additional 20 who may be worth watching, but haven't done enough to get into my ranking or be left out of it.

I was surprised at how few schools have distinguished themselves thus far.  I had four teams clearly at the top then three or four more in a tier behind, but then there were ten or fifteen squads with decent, but not stellar early season results.

I think there will be a lot of movement once conference play gets into full swing.

Put a plug in for the Poster's Poll on the SCAC board - maybe someone new will jump in.

Short of Whitewater losing tonight, I think I'm set.  I haven't looked at the official Top 25 at all, so who knows how badly I'll screw up the curve.

I like to get the poll up by Tuesday evening.  Call it a 6pm (EST) deadline.  Earlier is appreciated.

Generally there are very few relevant games on Sunday, so poll voters should be able to get a tentative ballot together even on Saturday.

I'll wait for the Middlebury game today, but I'm pretty sure my ballot is set.

We're off to a fast start - four ballots already in and tabulated.

So far all have the same top four (though in different order); #5 is a very tight race among three teams.  14 teams have been nominated for the top 10.

34 different teams already named (after 3 ballots; Ralph added no new names).  Some I suspect are destined to be outliers (1 voter only, including my #25), but my 26th and 27th teams are getting VERY strong support from others - I'd reconsider, but that is a job for NEXT week! :D

I'm going to take responsibility for at least one of those, although in looking at my ballot, I hope it's no more than one.  I think I did a pretty good job this year.
