Not as crazy as I thought.  I was high outlier on WP and RMC, the low outlier on WashU, Midd, and Brandeis.

I only counted it an outlier if I was the only one at one extreme or another.

All, but my 23, 24, and 25 slots made it onto the poll.

Perhaps I'm not as crazy as I thought.

Fear not, Captain Outlier, we all still think you're crazy.

That's why we have you in the poll! :D

I wonder if the official poll has such a wide range of placements for some of these teams?

I wonder if the official poll has such a wide range of placements for some of these teams?

I had a similar question, but I do buy into the diverse vote distribution.

Mr Ypsi, in your statistical expert opinion,

now that we have 12 or more votes in the poll, is our sample sufficiently large to drop the top and bottom vote in the poll and re-publish the poll?

It would be interesting to see if this would tighten the poll to more realistic voting.

Thanks

sac

Make a case for Medaille or  Franklin and Marshall in the top 25 for me.

Both have played very weak schedules.  Since people like to sight Massey........F&M 293, Medaile 368 schedule strength.

I'd prefer to go ahead and present ALL the data.

But since I present all the votes (including the highest and lowest), anyone who wished to do what you suggest could easily re-compute the poll.

[As a statistician, I wouldn't touch our poll with a 10-foot pole! ;)  It is neither randomly selected (and far too small for that to be wise anyway), nor expertly selected for diversity and balance (as with Pat's poll).  It is what it is - a group of d3 fans giving their (hopefully, reasonably informed) opinions, then learning more about both d3 teams and the difficulties of polling by debating anomalies, whether within our poll or between our poll and Pat's.]

Mr. Ypsi

I've just made a correction to the poll (I think the totals are still correct).  A voter noted that he had EMU 13th, but there was no 13th recorded.  In fact, THREE of the votes typed as 12th were actually 13th.

My tabulation skills (while imperfect) are usually better than my typing skills. :P  If anyone else notes a seeming error, please let me know.  (Here is OK if you must, but doing it by PM, like this voter, is so much more gracious! :))

I have F&M at #19, and keep them there because they and WPU (at #17) are  the only teams from those two regions that seem to have any chance of being in the tourney come Elite 8.  My WPU is my only drastic outlier.  I will reconsider them next week.  (Haw, Haw, Haw.  Aaarrrrrrrggggghhhhh, I have just put a dastardly curse on the Pioneers.)

F&M might breeze thru the first three rounds and meet WPU.

If WPU's defense is as good as we have seen in the usual NJAC teams, then defense can win tourney games.
Yeah, St Mary's MD is Mid-Atlantic and Capital AC, but they are still close to the South.  I think that I have a better handle on South Region teams.  They are my # 24.  I can see them as a higher seed and winning a weaker sectional and making it to the Sweet 16.
