Mr. Ypsi

Well, 12 voters ain't bad!  Maybe next week we can do even better.

(Our 15th voter is nwhoops1903 and he passed the 'no homers' rule with flying colors - he put Whitworth right where they finished in the poll! :))

I was the Central outlier (17th power rating in Massey, 75 in SOS there too). I did get Anderson back in. Who chimed in for Merchant Marine? (52nd power, 238 SOS in Massey). Interesting.

Well, you know I'm not gonna blab! ;)

But in defense of both of you, Central (11) and Merchant Marine (8) both received votes in the real poll.

Dropped out:  #26 Albright (7 voters 31 pts); #28 Lycoming; #31 Rochester; #34 Amherst; #34 Wilmington

Mr. Ypsi

I found the voting for three teams especially interesting.

Two-thirds of MIT voters put them in the 8-12 range, but there were also votes of 4,5 and 14,15.

A majority of voters had Midd in the top ten, but they also received votes of 20 and 22.

F & M finished 18th.  Three quarters of voters had them at least that high, but three voters omitted them completely.

The common denominator would seem to be that all have great records but very suspect schedules.

I was more of an outlier this week than last, even though I named 23 of the 25 teams.

I was the high voter for Stevens Point, Whitewater, and TX-Dallas; I was the low voter for St. Thomas, WashU, and Middlebury.

In the long season, UTD is finding ways to win games.

They are a smart, disciplined well-coached team.

I'm usually either completely within range or a one-time outlier. This week, I was the low outlier on Chapman. But I'm slightly worried that I was only one step away from HF on UW-Whitewater, UT-Dallas, and Middlebury. I feel as though I'm the anchor guy tethered to HF on the cliff face of Outlier Mountain.

I've learned that the ASC is a gauntlet.  Those long road trips can be killers.  A record like that in that conference speaks volumes.  They deserve the respect.

Hey, you're witnessing my massive comeback on the pick'em.  I may be more right than crazy this year.  Being close to Sager is evidence of that.

There are some who would say that being close to Sager is a mental health warning sign. :P

I was a bit of an outlier myself this week. I was the high vote on Wash U and the low vote on Williams. Also was the low voter on MIT and was one of the voters that omitted F&M, but then I've omitted them for the past 4 weeks. I put St. John Fisher in the 25th spot and dropped Colby. At least Fisher won tonight, which is better than some other teams that I've put in the 25th spot and promptly proceeded to lose their next game. I was in the middle of the pack with Middlebury as I had them in 10th and I already explained yesterday in a post why I like them as I've seen them play. I had 24 of the 25 teams, missing only F&M. I was close to Hoop Fan with the Pointers as I had them in 5th and Whitewater as I put them #8. Also with St. Thomas which I put in 7th. Had Willie Pat in 11th and I think that may be too high. Pretty sure that both Middlebury and Eastern Mennonite would handle Willie Pat if they played them, as well as a number of schools I've ranked below them. I have them where they are because of the St. Peter Principle but I won't float them any higher. MIT and Middlebury both played RPI at RPI. MIT barely escaped with a win 56-55 while Middlebury won by double digits 63-52. Still don't see MIT with a signature win. Beating WPI, a team that is 4-4 in the NEWMAC with losses to 7-14 Wheaton(Mass) and Babson 2-7 in the NEWMAC doesn't do it for me and MIT also lost to that same 7-14 Wheaton team. (Sorry Hugenerd I hope they prove me wrong)

We're living in a crazy world when I'm the benchmark for prognosticating accuracy for two straight years. If I was a gambler, some burly goon from the mob would've broken my legs years ago.
