Mr. Ypsi

I was promised one more ballot - hopefully it will arrive while I'm out today.

Anyone else?

I'll post this evening, with or without more ballots (but hopefully with!).

Thanks for running the poll again this year!  +1!

I had 23 of the 25, and none of my votes were outliers, with the exception of Carleton at #21.  I thought that they played well at UWSP in the opening round.

I consider the MIAC as one of the strong "second" tier conferences, just below the 5 Power Conferences (in alphabetical order, CCIW, NESCAC, ODAC, UAA and WIAC).  Carleton earned the Pool A bid in the MIAC, and they played admirably.

Knocking out the members of the power conferences from the Posters' Poll...

I think that gives us a fair representation of the second tier conferences, too.  The only second tier conferences that I might consider that are not present are the SCAC, the IIAC and the MIAA.

Mr. Ypsi

And note that you have to go all the way up to #22 to find a team named on more ballots than Central (IIAC) - they may have only tallied 6 points, but they were named on 56% of ballots!

To me that is more impressive than several teams above them (which is why I list tied teams by number of ballots, THEN alphabetically if still tied).

So, I'm moving to South Jersey this summer.  I might actually get to see a few games in person next year.  I'll be a half hour from Rowan and 20ish minutes from Widener.

I only noticed it because of the strange way my mind does math like that.  I was wondering how many people participated in the poll.  Rather than count the numbers in the lines below, I figured I'd just subtract the "unanimous" votes.  I got really confused when the difference between #1 and #2 was different than #2 and #3.

The frightening thing about this is that I knew what you were doing with the math thing!  Unanimous for 4th place would have been 198 votes!

I find it somewhat interesting that at least one poster ranked Wooster behind UW-WW, a team Wooster beat in the second round.  Also, two posters ranked Illinois Wesleyan behind Carthage, who Ill. Wes beat in the Sweet Sixteen (they split 2-2 on the year).

Any other direct match-ups from the tourney with interesting poll results?

Uh... Whitewater beat Point twice (UWW was 2-1 vs. UWSP).  Not sure that this one really qualifies though!

For that matter, La Crosse went 1-1 against Point too, including the game that cost UWSP the regular season conference championship.

Mr. Ypsi

Unless there is an undefeated champion, there is almost guaranteed SOME chain by which ANY team who won even a single game is shown to be better than the champ! ;)

Head-to-head is obviously important, but it is not the only criterion.
