I wonder if Whitworth will be unanimous.

I wonder if Whitworth will be unanimous.

Based on past voting in our poll, I'd expect they will be.  In the d3hoops.com poll, Woo, Whit, and Augie were 18 points shy of sweeping the top three spots, so someone may have had a NESCAC team (or Va Wes) ahead of Whitworth.  I'll guess they'll be unanimous, but a #1 vote or two for Williams or Amherst would certainly not shock me.

This was somewhat semi-demi easier than before. I said somewhat.

Having now looked at the matter more seriously, I'll now guess they will NOT be unanimous (on the real poll).  Whitworth's ONLY 'signature' wins are twice over Lewis & Clark and (on a neutral court) over Carthage.  While Carthage just knocked Augie from the ranks of the unbeaten, they have also lost to EIGHT other teams, so that win has been seriously degraded from what it looked like at the time.

Unbeaten is unbeaten, but out there on that d3 'island' it is impossible to know (so far) just how good they really are.  Whitworth WILL (IMO) be #1, but I'm now betting that at least 3-4 #1 votes will go to Williams/Amherst/VaWes.

As much as I think it should be, I very much doubt it.

7 ballots in and tallied so far.  What is most striking is that those 7 voters have only named 30 teams, and 4 are orphans so far.  Amazing that almost all the votes have gone to only 26 teams!  (Of course, the balloting so far does not included 'Mr. Outlier' :D)

Wait, so am I still Captain Outlier or have I just been stripped of any outlier title altogether?

I've still got Anderson in - even after a loss.  That has to count for something.

Notice I didn't say "Captain Outlier" - the Dean of Knightslappy U has definitely usurped your preeminent 'outlier' credentials the last few weeks! ;D  We'll await the end of the season (at least) to adjudicate the title, but geez, you've only got ONE orphan so far this week! :o

Though if KS comes in with 17 orphans, (just to defend his honor) his ballot is toast! :P

My ballots have all been perfectly justifiable.  :)

To quote one of the most excellent movies ever:

Who are you?

I'm me.

And what are you not?

A sheep.

Right. And what does a sheep go?

Baaaaa

Mr. Ypsi

Now, KS, scroll back a few pages and you'll see I vociferously defended outliers.

It's just that 'orphans' add an intolerable ;) burden to my workload.  I have to type in a whole new college (AND statline) because of one freakin' voter! :P

As a typist, I LIKE 'sheep'! ;D

KnightSlappy

Mines in. We'll see if Mr. Ypsi explodes from over-exertion.

Which just leads to more questions:

Can I play computer games?

Couldn't you just murder a Big Mac?

You go 'round his place after school?

Mr. Ypsi

Sorry, you only added three 'orphans' (and 'adopted' one)!  You did give the first non-vote to three teams that had previously been voted in by everyone. :P

You are far surpassing Hoops Fan as this year's "Mr." or "Captain" Outlier. ::)

We're already up to ten voters - if Tuesday's returns are up to snuff, we may set a record for this year.

Mr. Ypsi

When we reached 11 ballots before the end of Monday, I had huge hopes of a new record number.  Those hopes are beginning to fade as, 17 hours later, we are still at 11.  C'mon guys, let's hit 15 or more!!

As always, I am willing to hold up presenting the results if a voter needs more time, but you gotta let me know! ;)
