Mr. Ypsi

30 minutes 'til the listed deadline, and still just 11.  Any ballots in the pipeline (and, again, I'll hold off if an extra hour or two would produce ballots - just let me know)?

Greg?  sac?  Bueller?  anyone?

Mr. Ypsi

Mr. Ypsi

Didn't check through ALL the records, but this might be the first time ever we have had ZERO #25 orphans (the six orphans were evenly distributed among #22, #23, and #24 votes)!

For the moment, we have a unanimous #1.  (I'm curious if breaking that up will require a Whitworth loss, or if a sweep by one of the big 3 in NESCAC will vault a team to the top.)  EMU fell out of our 'solid top 12' a couple of weeks ago, but we now have a fairly 'solid top 11' - 116 of 121 possible top eleven votes went to the same eleven teams.

The ink is barely dry on the posters' poll and Western Connecticut goes down 86-75 to Rhode Island.

Can't say I'm disappointed.  I was a bit queasy having them above Wabash and EMU on my ballot, but 19-2 was hard to argue against. ;)

I wouldn't penalize them too much for this loss. Rhode Island is  a decent team. They have a lot of parts back from last year's sweet 16 team. Watched them on video over the weekend when they beat Keene St. and was not surprised to see them win Tuesday night against Western Connecticut. They could conceivably win the automatic bid out of solid Little East Conference again this year.

This is the time of the season when I see so many teams between 10-12 and 25 that have "floated up" in the rankings.  You are now in conference play where anything can happen, depending on the jostling that happens for tourney seedings.

That was a must win game for RIC, and next Tuesday, ECSU can clinch a share of first place with a win over WCSU.

This season, I don't think that there is a dime's worth of difference between #13 and #30.

I was not prepared to drop Centre from the ranks, just because rival DePauw beat them on Sunday.  DePauw had to win for any tourney hopes of a good seed.  BSC is ineligible for the SCAC and NCAA tourney so I am not including them in my ballot.

Western Connecticut really hasn't played a great schedule this year.  I had them up mostly on their carryover from last year (and by "up" I'm not talking all that high).

RIC is solid, but much better at home.  They won this game on the road.  Quite honestly, it probably says more about RIC coming on late than it does about WCONN faltering.

Well, I've got my ballot all set - of course Ferrum is now in OT with Christopher Newport, so I may have to make a change or two.  I really hope they pull it out.  CNU is a solid squad - OT with them is not going change my impression much, but a loss does have to factor in, especially with how many teams suffered losses this week.

I'm in.  I basically wiped out my ballot after #15 and started over with about 40 teams for those last 10 spots.

Tomorrow night for mine.  It will take me that long to figure out who did not lose last week.  +1 to Darryl Nester for his considerable help.   ;)

You did have me worried, Ralph.  More often than not you are the FIRST one in! ;)

I am in and Point keeps leap froggin' and I suspect EMU is back in the top solid group.  EMU has had my respect for at least 11 months.

I wanted to put Whitman in there but then they play Whitworth Tuesday.  A battle of the Whits.  Hopefully the superior and undefeated Whit will prevail! ;)   :D

I've been to both Spokane and Walla Walla. Actually liked both places, so I have no dog in the hunt.

I'm sure, since tensions are high, that they'd have to play in Ritzville to keep those Western Washingtonians under control...
