Mr. Ypsi

After going all day stuck on ten, FINALLY got that elusive 11th ballot!

I'll post in an hour or so unless someone chimes in soon with a promised ballot.

You make it seem like you were waiting all day for me MrY. ;)

Fun poll, dilemma's with what to do with the teams left out of the tournament.

For ballots in general, yes.  But I didn't disrupt my day for you specifically! ;)

I can't recall a year where there weren't one or more teams on both this and the d3hoops.com poll who didn't get left out.  The selection process is so different from what poll voters do.  My worry is that those left out may get forgotten in the final poll (though usually at least one or two survives).

Mr. Y, if you hold up, I'll have a ballot to you within the hour.

Mr. Ypsi

Tightest race at the top I can ever recall -wasn't decided until the very last ballot!

Fun poll, dilemma's with what to do with the teams left out of the tournament.

FWIW I still had votes for EMU and Carleton, not being in the tournament is going to make it difficult to vote for them in 3 weeks however.  Wabash dropped off my list and Ferrum was not in my top 25 last week.

Left at my table were F&M, Wabash, Mary Hardin Baylor, IWU.  For F&M and MHB its due to schedule.

Statistics are playing a key role in how I'm ranking teams, I think its giving a broader view of the whole season vs just the emotions of the last few games.  My top 3 has been the same for all 3 polls I voted, they've just shuffled in order.  This week 1 and 3 flipped giving me UWSP, Whitworth and Williams.  My top 9 has been locked on the same 9 teams with very little movement among them, and not much shuffling around overall.

I see the poll as "how would you bet on the game on a neutral court NOW", which obviously takes into account the whole season, but puts a premium on recent results.  Not being in the tourney (e.g., EMU, but also etc.) obviously does not help, but hopefully is not prohibitive.  Teams in the tourney can obviously help their cause (or can totally implode, if seen as 'iffy' in the first place and just 'drifted up'), while those not selected are 'frozen'.  My final ballot will definitely include EMU, though they may not be their current #11.  Some team(s) may earn their way to a spot higher than #11.

But I hate how some voters automatically put the FF in their top 4, the E8 in their top 8, etc.  This year's brackets seem unusually balanced, but such is not usually the case.  There have been many times where a team made the Elite 8 without ever beating a ranked team - how does that automatically make them among the top 8 (SOMEONE had to win the bracket, however bad they might be ::))?

If we've learned anything from EMU this year, it's that being good last year and going 1-3 in tough games will get you ranked in the top 15.

No, actually the only thing we've learned from EMU this year is teams must schedule in region games....some how, some way. If not you better win every game on your schedule...and fyi i'm pretty sure most teams wouldnt have even gone 1-3 against the same ranked games that we participated in.

The discussion isn't about most teams, its about a top 15 team.

Well throw any top 15 team in the country against RMC or Va Wes and 9 times outta 10 im gonna go with the ODAC, especially if its RMC
So most teams or "A TOP 15"...Doesnt matter to me who we're talking about i'm standing by my guns!  8-)
