If we've learned anything from EMU this year, it's that being good last year and going 1-3 in tough games will get you ranked in the top 15.

No, actually the only thing we've learned from EMU this year is teams must schedule in region games....some how, some way. If not you better win every game on your schedule...and fyi i'm pretty sure most teams wouldnt have even gone 1-3 against the same ranked games that we participated in.

The discussion isn't about most teams, its about a top 15 team.

Well throw any top 15 team in the country against RMC or Va Wes and 9 times outta 10 im gonna go with the ODAC, especially if its RMC
So most teams or "A TOP 15"...Doesnt matter to me who we're talking about i'm standing by my guns!  8-)

Mine's in. And I know I broke the tie and Middlebury now has 2 #1 votes. ;D

Question: The National Champion will come from which sectional? Wooster Sectional-Whitworth, Marietta, Cabrini   17 (42.5%)
Williams Sectional-Amherst, VWU, RIC   6 (15%)
Rochester Sectional-Middlebury, St. Mary's, Buffalo State   3 (7.5%)
Augustana Sectional-MHB, Stevens Point, St. Thomas   14 (35%)

Total Voters: 40

So out of 40 I think I can safely conclude that Magicman and Nescac1 and 1 other guy like Middlebury.  Yet in Poster Poll Midd had 4 #1's.  Looks like a defector.

Whitworth and Wooster have nearly 6x the love with 17 votes.  How many of those are for Wooster?

I was one of the 4 Midd voters, but was not among the 40 voters.

I would have been a defector, as I'm picking UWSP to win it all, but given their number of losses couldn't quite vote them #1.  (BTW, I'm picking UWSP, but unless I get a sweep on Friday to move into contention on the bracket contest [I've got 49 points], I'll be rooting for Augie. ;))

You got quite a few picks out there!   :o  another of your infamous "spreads"?  ;)

I picked the Whitworth/Wooster sectional strictly because I think there's five teams with a better than average shot at winning - two of them were in one sectional.  I'm not a mathematician, but it seemed like that makes the odds better.

How do you rank the Augustana sectional Hoops Fan?

I think Augie and the Tommies have some deficiencies this year.  I think they're title capable teams, but it would be a surprise if either of them went all the way.  Point has been very strong.

I'd sort of compare this to the Williams bracket.  Amherst and VWC are both strong squads, but a step below the real tourney favorites.

I don't doubt any of those teams can win two games this weekend, but Point and Williams, to me, are the only teams with a chance to win four in a row.

Whitworth, Wooster, and Middlebury are the other three in my top five.

I kind of split everyone into title teams, final four teams (those schools you know are good enough to get to Salem if they get on a hot streak, but would be upset champions), and surprise teams.

Wooster, Whitworth, Williams, Point, and Middlebury in the top group.

Augie, St. Thomas, Amherst, VWC in the second group.

Everyone else in the surprise category (probably more on who they'd have to beat than the actual make-up of the squads themselves).

As per my habit, I cleared the board and started from scratch today - giving more weight to the end of the season, but taking the whole year into account.

I did not give bonus points for making the tournament, although playing tournament games obviously helps the overall resume.

I've got everything ready, just waiting to slot in the 1 and 2 teams.

My final four was Whitworth, Williams, Middlebury, and St. Thomas. I had Whitworth beating Williams and St. Thomas beating Middlebury, with St Thomas winning it all. Only Whitworth let me down.

Mine is in.  One other performance that we should recall was the 6-point loss by VWC at Williams, 79-73 in the Sweet 16.  That was a "plane flight" game of the visitors to the Williams home court.

I have called that a 7-point Home Court Advantage for Williams, a very tough place to play.  I think that VWC would have beaten Williams on a neutral court.

Mr. Ypsi

All season long I was certain the Tommies were overrated (I picked IWU to upset them before UWSP took out my Titans).  I stand corrected! :-[

To my delight, we already had 6 ballots by late Saturday, but no more since then.  I hope there are plenty more in preparation between now and Tuesday! ;D

I've been supportive of St. Thomas in the last several years only to see some overrated teams come tournament time.  I chose this year to be skeptical and look what it got me.

The chance to watch them prove themselves.

If they were outside your Top10, then you may want to review your skepticism.  Otherwise, I don't think that you were out of the realm of plausible assessment.
