Mr. Ypsi

Three ballots in and tabulated.

It is always interesting to compile the ballots in the week following a loss by a consensus #1 (Midd had 24 of 25 firsts in the real poll; 7 of 9 in ours).  Our top seven so far (without, of course, revealing who they are) have 72, 70, 69, 65, 64, 61, and 60 points (then 50, 50, 47, and 45).

The top of the poll is WIDE open, so keep those ballots coming! ;D

I may have hurt my very own teams chances of getting the toppest of spots.
Its a great day to be a Dutchman!

+1!

The idea is the get the poll "right", not to use the poll as a form of "boosterism".

Mr. Ypsi

We're now up to 11 (MUCH better than last week's 9), but we can do better!  Unless I hear from someone promising a later ballot, I'll begin in about an hour - still time to get to 12 or 13!

Some real head scratchers in the poll this week.

UWSP #1 - a 4 loss team ahead of Hope? And I had them 11th as a die hard fan!
CMS #2 & #5 - Only one loss but not much of a resume
Wash U #2 - Ahead of almost everyone else?? At 16-5?
RIC #6 - They are only 4th place in their own conference and just lost to a sub .500 team?
WPI #7 - Only on 2 ballots total
Lake Forest #7 - I like the Foresters but not Top Ten like.

Not meaning to question anyone else's opinions but curious as to why these are so far out of the rest of the pollsters' picks??

CMS and Lake Forest probably aren't all that out of line in an opinion poll.   They both show up rather well in the massey.com ratings.    http://masseyratings.com/rate.php?lg=cb&sub=11620

I scratched my head at Washington #2 at 16-5 as well.

What would UWSP's record be if they played Va Wes' schedule?

How well would UWSP match up against those teams? The individual match-ups sometimes outweigh the raw power numbers.

My policy is never to 'out' voters, but I think everyone who pays attention here knows you are the one who left Va Wes off the ballot (with a majority of voters putting them either 2nd or 3rd, you single-handedly dropped them to 5th - the perils of an overly small poll :P).  Now you bring them in although they had not been mentioned in the post you responded to.  They beat a very good Randy Mac team (that you voted for), they beat a very good HSC team (AT HSC) by 20; they have other significant wins and the ODAC has been a 'power conference' for the last decade or so.  How is their schedule so soft?

Did a Va Wes grad run over your puppy?  steal your GF? ::)

Massey rates their schedule at #146, so I'm not the only one that thinks they have a mediocre-ish schedule.

I just get nervous about a Top 25 team that derives so much of their value from running up the score against middling competition. And let's be honest with ourselves, the ODAC is not what it was the last few years (not even close really).

I'm just trying to look past "OMG 20-2 is better than 18-4"!

Oh, and I'm not a dog person, and I'm married to the only GF I've ever had. :)

And what is that supposed to mean? If I had voted them 10th, as someone else did, then they would have only bumped up one spot! I'm sure there are plenty of other voters that 'single-handedly' moved a team by one spot.

I have a hard time imagining an ODAC that is so "down" that they do not have a single team that is not at least Top 22 which is what I deduce from the balloting.

I could have accepted a VWC at #10 or even #12.

As for indexes, I don't think that they are as "solid" in D-III as in D-1.  There is just not enough inter-region play!

Thanks to all for the discussion.
