Thanks for the work Mr. Ypsi...

I love reading the opinions of the other posters. I don't see enough of the teams to attempt a poll. So, it's fun to see how others (who watch more teams than I do) rank them.

Look forward to more great basketball this season.

Great work. I forgot how fun it as to look at this.  It's been awhile since I participated in the poll.  Not sure how much I will be able to do it, but I'll do what I can.

Mr. Ypsi

Looking at the spread of votes, and comparing our poll to d3hoops.com's poll, a few notes:

According to the 'official' poll, we greatly undervalued Midd (13th vs. 3rd, with our highest vote being 4th), Franklin and Marshall (23rd vs. 14th, with 8 voters 17th or below), Ramapo (15th vs. 7th, with 8 voters 9th or below), and Albertus Magnus (29th vs. 19th, with my vote at what the later official pool called the 19th best team turning out to be an orphan vote!).

On the other hand, we greatly overvalued (according to the official poll) Augie (8th vs. 17th), OWU (9th vs. 16th), UWSP (5th vs. 10th), and perhaps UWW (7th vs. 11th) and UW-Stout (25th vs. t43rd).  [Note the WIAC tendency!]

I also was struck by the wildly different views of, especially, Midd and OWU.

I also noted that IWU was by far the lowest ranked team to be named on all 9 ballots - have I intimidated you into thinking that will let your ballot go unchallenged??!! ;D  (For the record, I was one of the votes for #21 - I'm not THAT much of a homer! 8-))

Quickies.

As I said in my message to you, I used Massey's Power Ranking (power rating), SOS, Massey's Rating (rating overall strength) and some guy named David Wilson and his system.

I had four WIAC teams.  Point was 4th in all three ratings and 2nd in SOS.  Whitewater was in the top 12 of the 3 and 1st in SOS.  Stout and La Crosse were better than Middebury in two of three and WAY better in SOS.  Middlebury's SOS was 298.  Stout and La Crosse were 49 and 38.  Augustana was top 5 in 2 of 3. OWU was top 7 in 2 of 3. IWU was 22nd, 24th and 30th in the 3 ratings, though 10th in SOS.  I had them 21st in our poll.

I'm quite pleased that our little cabal values OWU over Wooster.

I looked at Massey, Wolfe and Wilson's, and my big issue was that there was a big difference on who 'is' D-3 and who is not. Wilson only has 400 teams whilst the others two have the same number but use different teams to get to that number. Yeah, it's not really a big issue but I like to have SOME consistency there!

Mr Ypsi, please double-check my ballot. I tried to give Albertus Magnus a #20.

Thanks for running the poll, again.

OOPS!  (Actually, you gave them #19, just like me.)  I'll correct the poll, though it makes only a slight difference - AM goes from #29 to t27; Amherst drops from 28 to 29.

And, they are no longer an "orphan"!  AMC has had too much success over the last few years. I think that they are becoming a quality program.

Now if they could only play someone in the regular season!

Well, they DID play Yale! :P  (Lost by 49, but who's counting!)  Their non-con also included W. Conn and Trinity, who are usually 'someone'.  But, yeah, being in the GNAC is not gonna give them a powerhouse schedule.

They beat some really, truly terrible teams by very small amounts.  I am not a believer.
