Seriously though, someone didn't vote for Calvin? Someone that thinks Ramapo is a Top 18 team doesn't see Calvin as a Top 25 team?

That's me.  MIAA is way, way bad this year (at least my perception) and Calvin didn't do so hot with their non-con schedule.  Although, I am running out of other options, so they could sneak back in there before all is said and done.

For what it's worth, I'm treating WPI the same way - they just happen to have won all their games so far.  I'm definitely one of the double digit voters for them - and really worried I've put them too high each week).

I keep being baffled that someone isn't voting for Wheaton (although it's more understandable after the loss this week) - I imagine I'm embodying the same frustration for you.

While I'm always delighted to see respect for the CCIW (though I am almost never the highest voter for any of the teams; my IWU vote was #7), I'm totally mystified by the love affair many of you have for NCC.  EIGHT of you are still ranking NCC higher than IWU!  Are you not aware that (with just 4 games remaining in conference) IWU is THREE games ahead of NCC (10-0 vs. 7-3), and beat them head-to-head (In Bloomington; if I'm in contention in CCIW pickems, even I will probably pick NCC in the rematch in Naperville)??  At one point, I too had NCC ranked #1 in the country - that was a while ago.

They lost two difficult, back to back road games by single digits while they were banged up.  I like the team as constituted and I think, when healthy, they're among the best in the country.  We are talking about an 18-3 squad in one of the best conferences.  In retrospect I should have had IWU a little higher.  Perhaps they're both top 5 teams.

They're 10-0 in the MIAA (averaging a 15 point win), and the NJAC is still likely a worse conference.

Have to agree with you and Greg - that was a pretty funny typo! :-[

Out of respect for Albright, I've now corrected the original post.

As a (retired) professor, I greatly appreciated spell-check.  Before the misspellings were often just gibberish.  With spell-check, they would be real words, but sometimes hilariously wrong words.  Two of my favorite examples:

"... women and their male contraband."  (presumably meant counterparts)  I wrote on the paper: it has been my lifelong desire to be Sophia Loren's contraband (thus showing my age :P).

"... upon reaching adulthood, juvenile records are atomically expunged."  (presumably meant automatically)  I responded: OMG, isn't that drastic?!  Have they never heard of paper-shredders?

Calvin played no one else of note.  If you don't have at least one win over a moderately good team, it's hard for me to believe in you.  Usually it works out ok because both Hope and Calvin are decent.  This year Hope is just not that good.  Adrian seemed like they'd be alright early on, but it never panned out.  Maybe Calvin is a Top 25 team - they're just going to have to prove it to me in the tournament.

I was preparing to post to defend Calvin's schedule, then checked their opponents' records.  They have non-d3 wins over Grace Bible, Aquinas, and Cornerstone - all are frequently tough, and I thought Grace was really good this year - this year I was wrong on all three.  They destroyed Wabash, who just beat Wooster - then I saw just how great an upset that was, as that was Wabash's SEVENTH win all season.  KS, I have Calvin at 13 and feel good about it, but you're on your own in justifying their status!

That's just not even accurate.

Massey has the MIAA at #11. One ahead of NCAC and two ahead of NESCAC.

I guess I'm just trying to figure out what Calvin hasn't proven that teams like Catholic, Ramapo, and Wesley have.

How do you know that the person that sees Ramapo as a Top 18 team is the person that didn't vote for Calvin? ???

Edit:
I posted this question while I was reading the previous page. I see now that Hoops Fan was the voter that passed on Calvin, but also wasn't the voter that placed Ramapo 18th, so obviously it wasn't the same person. Just wondered if KnightSlappy had some kind of mental telepathy to make that statement, but I guess he doesn't. ;D
