Mr. Ypsi

Until Augie won at the Shirk last night, they had 'merely' won the conference games they were 'supposed' to win.  IF they can win AT Elmhurst on Sunday as well, I think I would have to vote them #1 - that would be one IMPRESSIVE week!

I would've put Carnegie Mellon ninth, Amherst tenth, Wartburg eleventh, North Central twelfth, and York (PA) thirteenth.

Mr. Ypsi

OK, so unofficially we now have CM 10th, Amherst 11th, and York 12th, with Wartburg still 9th and NCC still 13th.

The CCIW schedule is only about half over, so its tough to give them too much credit (or much more than they are already getting).  Augie was #3 in my poll this past week.  I voted Lawrence #1; I think they've earned it so far.  I'll get to see them on Saturday, so we'll see what a face-to-face does for me.  And as much as I feel Witt is overrated, I have no evidence to back that up of yet, so they will probably remain #2 as long as they win.

Aren't we basing the current polls on what's happened so far?  Who cares if the CCIW schedule is only half over?

I have seen Lawrence play several times the last two years and they are very good.  Braier is a stud.  They've beaten Oshkosh three years in a row now and have an unblemished record.  But, based on the schedule, I'm more impressed with Auggie.  They are in a superior conference and have only one loss (away to ranked Stout) while big wins over conference and ranked foes.  Like I said, I like Lawrence and without Point (most likely) in their way this year, they are bound to do some NCAA damage.  But, Auggie is more impressive thus far based on what I've read and seen in terms of scores, IMO.

Of course, I've had Lawrence ranked higher than Auggie in my polls...so, what do I know!

In my eyes, Witt and Wooster have done nothing wrong to make me think my judgement is faulty, and Lawrence is still sitting on that donut in the right column.

OS, FYI,

There are some Augie supporters who take great umbrage at the double 'g' in Augie/Auggie.  I know you mean no offense, but be forewarned!  Some of them can get downright nasty!

Mr. Ypsi

Smed,

I don't mean to in anyway impugn Witt, Woo, or Lawrence, but if Augie can beat IWU IN Bloomington and Elmhurst IN Elmhurst in the same week, I've gotta think they just did something that NO other d3 team could accomplish.

MAYBE one or more of the first three could have done it, but they haven't and we'll never know if they could have (barring some really unlikely matchup in the postseason!)  To ME, IF Augie pulls that off (and I have picked Elmhurst in the pickems - though I also picked IWU, so what the hell do I know!), they are #1.

I aggree to a point.  Don't think that I don't think Witt, Wooster and Lawrence aren't any ggood.  I think they are all ggreat teams.  If none of those three teams lose their next ggames, I'm not ggoingg to vote Auggustana #1, believe me.  Until those aforementioned teams lose, Aggustana won't jump them, I don't think.

Mr. Ypsi,

Thanks for the heads up.  ;D  I have a friend and his last name is Augustine.  Sorry for the double "g" thing.  I'll be sure not to use it unless I'm criticizing Augustana! lol.  :P

I understand.  There are some posters I've seen say Steven's Point, not Stevens Point

OS,

I didn't mean to doubt your claim that Augie is most impressive; they probably are.  However, you seemed to imply (with the "they've gone undefeated in the impossible to go undefeated CCIW" comment) that they were done with the tough schedule.  They have been impressive thus far, but it is the CCIW and they have a long way to go.

Ypsi - Now it's impressive, yes, but somehow I don't think it's totally something that could be unique to Augie. There are a lot of decent teams who are good road warriors and unafraid. Half the battle on the road is not being intimidated.

Texas A&M University goes by the Texas Aggies, without the "u"!   There is an entire series of joke books written about them.  :P ;D :D :D :D

Yeah, but Ralph, graduates of A&M spell it Aggriculture.  (Well, most of 'em miss a few other letters too, but you get the drift!)

When I get home from soccer tonight, I EXPECT a full list of wins and losses by teams in and around the Poster's Top 25 Poll tonight.  Just to forewarn you of my expectations.  ;D
