With Augie/Elmhurst done I submitted my poll a few minutos ago.

No big changes, 3 teams out 3 former teams in.  Not a lot of movement for me.  But one team crashed out with 2 losses this week.

I expect a big time shakeup with next weekend high profile tilts.

Ralph Turner

I submitted my poll this week.  I feel much better about this week's.  Miss College has a good test against UOzarks in Clarksville on Saturday.  With the exception of some of the travel partners, almost all of the road trips in the ASC, both East and West, are at least 3-4 hour bus rides.  Miss College has a 5-6 hour trip to Austin College on Thursday, then a 4-hour trip to Clarksville AR on Friday for the Saturday game.

The smiley face by #8 has no significance...just forgetting the results of "8 )"

(For those who don't know, MissColl and McMurry are fierce rivals, so there is no love lost.  "The higher they rise, the harder they fall."  MissColl is carrying the ASC banner, so I can tolerate a little success ... until the post-season tourney. ;D )

Mr. Ypsi

Just to assure posters that ballots received, I have them from sac and Ralph Turner.

I'll let you guys decide whether this is good or bad: you agreed on exactly ONE team as far as position, but 23 of 25 for the top 25!  (You were pretty close most of the time, but one team differred by 13 spots!  And, of course, I have no way of knowing how different you were on the 2 teams each other left off the ballot.))

OK - I will weigh in on Augie - NOT #1.   Yes, Augie is 18 -1 overall and 8 - 0 in CCIW.  As Augie posters have noted; Augie has done just enough to put up a "W" in the CCIW.  Its 8 game CCIW win margin is 5.6 pts.  Exclude a 14 win over North Park (2 - 6) and 10 pt win over Millikin (2 - 6); Augie margin is 3.5 pts. -- with five 3 pt wins and one 6 pt win -- not exactly dominating stuff.  Then I look at the non-conference body of work -- just one Top 25 team (unless I missed something) which was a loss to UW-Stout.
For a #1, I look at the entire body of work, for consistency and improvement.  I just don't see the improvement.

Was it WPI?  ;D

No, they were only your third biggest disagreement (unless the 'no votes' were even bigger.  No further divulgences until the polling is complete!

Huh?  I posted the results.

I will elaborate so far as discretion allows on the board.

(And will, on a case-by-case basis perhaps elaborate even further on 'messages'.)

I meant that nice convenient list of Top 25 teams from the Poster's Poll and how they did this past week.

i.e.

Wittenberg beat blah blah blah
Augustana beat blah blah blah
Ill. Wes. lost to blah blah blah...

Come on Ypsi, get with the program! lol.  :P

iwumichigander,

I think you arguement about Augie's small margin of victory is not as big of a deal as you are making it sound.  You have to look at the style that Augie plays.  Their tough defense leads to games that can sometimes become "ugly" and games that seem like a war of attrition.  They are not a team that is going to blow many people out by 20-30 points...that's just not how they work.  They run their motion offense and eat up a lot of the shot clock in the process which causes them to shoot the ball only about 50 times a game.

Also, one of the reasons that improvement may not be apparent is due to the fact that they are playing tougher games in the CCIW than they did in the non-conference portion.  You know how the CCIW is, many close, hard fought games, especially this year.

I don't know if Augie is a #1 team or not and I don't really care but the one thing this team has proved over and over again is that it has some clutch players that step it up at the ends of games and know how to close out a game (at home or on the road).  They might just be the #1 team in the nation in terms of that.

But that was never me!  Get on witt4ever's case - if he does it one week, he is morally obligated to do it forever!

Now I'm on the edge of my seat, give it to me in a personal message.

Ironically, my top 12 stayed exactly the same this week.  Maybe the teams are settling into a normal pattern for now.

Poll is away Ypsi.
