My top 27 matched the PP top 27 - I had #26 Bates at 21, and #27 Elmhurst at 19.  I really WANTED to include both Carroll and Lincoln (and Calvin and another WIAC, though not sure which one), but couldn't find room.

I TOLD YOU to do a Top 30!  Oh, wait a minute, no I didn't.  ;)

Hey, I think we should do a PP top 50 - I'm just afraid I'd be tallying 2 ballots each week! ;D

And some weeks neither of them wold be mine. ;)

John Gleich

Hey, 50 teams!  That'd be great.

... it's just merely coincidence that after the top 8 all the teams are alphabetical...  ;D

Gosh, what happens to albion if they beat Hope?  That would really screw some sutff up.

Mr. Ypsi

HF,

Well, no need to worry about that!  Now the question is how far does Albion fall?  Losing to Hope (even big) is no big deal since they BEAT them big earlier.  But losing to Tri-State....

Mr. Ypsi

I'm going to do something I haven't previously done for fear of biasing the poll - the only ballot I have in so far is Ralph's, and he has one intriguing choice: Howard Payne.  Maybe others had dug deeper than me, but I confess they were not even on my radar.  They started 3-3, but are 13-0 since then.

While I have not yet formulated my ballot, I doubt they will be on it yet, but a definite addition to my personal 'ORVs'.

I don't have my ballot in front of me but I think I have all 25 teams on my ballot.  Thats darn good.

Major shakeup in the top 6 coming next poll

At the risk of "groupthink", my Top 24 were in the Poll.  I went with  UW-du jour at #25.  :-\

And I did not list NYU last week!  More luck than prescience! ;)

Greek Tragedy

I don't see anything that resembles a nice list of the Poster's Top 25 Poll and how each team did this past week.  >:(

I guess I'm on my own!  :'(

My poll will be in on Monday, Ypsi.  ;)

They definitely weren't on my radar, and of course I read this after sending you my picks.  Will have to keep an eye on them  :o

I'm delving into the ballot now, so it will be on its way soon; once I can make sense of all these losses.

Mr. Ypsi

Less than 3 hours to go (unless the real poll is delayed) and only 8 ballots in so far.

Mr. Ypsi

We're uyp to 9 voters; polls close in less than 30 minutes.

GS, PS, and 'stalker, where are you??

Tough one this week, I'm working on it right now

32. Bates, 4 [2 voters, both 24th]

36. UW-SP, 1

We had pretty solid agreement on the top teams - of the top 19, only two were left off any voter's ballot (though some of the ranges were pretty wide), and the next four were named on most ballots.  But after that it got pretty dicey - 8 teams were named on only one ballot each, and 3 more were named on only two!

My personal ballot had 23 of the top 24 (with neither of the teams tying for 25th) - I omitted Wartburg, but had Elmhurst 23rd and Bates 24th.

I also had 23 of the Top 24.  I voted for ONU and HPU.

Howard Payne's 13-game winning streak is the longest in the ASC-West, since the 2001 McMurry team, which won 23 straight.   (That McM team was eliminated by Horace Jenkins' National Finalist Wm Paterson team in the Sweet 16.)

I will have a better handle on this HPU team after this week's games.

The drive from Brownwood to Abilene is about 80 miles, an easy 90 minute drive, campus to campus.  Howard Payne has not defeated McMurry in Abilene in about a decade.  We may see the streak end on Thursday night.

Hardin-Simmons is the next game on Saturday.    The HSU gym should be full and enthused, because the Cowgirls and the Lady Jackets are the "opening act".

(To comprehend the attention that Women's basketball gets in West Texas, Texas Tech's women average about 12,000 per game.  Bobby Knight's men, only about 6500.)

HPU will go back home after the McM and the HSU games.

The last game in this road trip is at Sul Ross State on Monday night.  McM, HSU and SRSU were 2005 Tri-champs in the ASC-West.  Sul Ross State is HPU's travel partner and a 5-hr bus trip from Brownwoood to Alpine.  SRSU has a very boisterous crowd, which supports the Lobos enthusiastically.

If HPU wins all 3, they are likely to extend the streak to 18 before the 8-team ASC tourney, which HPU will host.

Amazing similarity between our poll amd the real d3 poll: 24 of the d3hoops top 25 were also in our top 25!  (The only exception was #24 ONU which finished 27th on the PP.)

The similarity was especially striking at the top: #1-4 were identical, #5 and 6 were flip-flopped, then #7-9 were again identical!  We liked Mississippi College (#10 vs #14) and Virginia Wesleyan (#15 vs. #19) somewhat more, but (for those who may have feared a CCIW bias with a known 'Green Weenie' counting the ballots!) gave much less love to NCC (#20 rather than #15 - and to Elmhurst, t29 rather than 26).

For those wanting to keep a 'watch-list', we had 5 who received no votes on d3hoops: UWSP, Tufts, Fisk, Widener, and Hamilton.  They had 4 receiving votes who received none on PP: UW-Oshkosh, Baruch (where were you 'stalker?!), Carleton, and UW-La Crosse.
