I know it's a rivalry game, but Calvin just isn't good this year.  I was letting this one be the tiebreaker (1st win over Calvin was big, but the second was close).  The schedule is just so bad this year; it's hard for me to give them much confidence.

Sorry, but that comment proves you do not understand this rivalry

I got rid of those posts.  It was a bit rash.  I get rivalries, even when one team is better than another.  It just seems a lot of people are talking Hope up so much that it created this giant talent disparity in my mind.  Hope and Calvin are probably, in actuality a lot closer in talent than I was thinking when I made that statement.

It might not apply in this instance, but it seems to me, even in rivalries, if one team is significantly better than the other, they should come out on top.  I guess more than anything this game affirms the idea in my mind that I've put Hope about where they belong.

How does this Calvin schedule  compare with past years?  They're only a few seasons removed from a trip to Salem... so the "mediocre" schedule, if the same as past years doesn't appear to be hampering them as far as competition goes...

Now, I know there are a lot of factors involved in it... if the teams they're playing are having good seasons, then their schedule would at least appear tougher, but...

I think the talent on Hope and Calvin is very similar. Hope's bench might be a little deeper but that is about it. The pre-season coaches poll actually favored Calvin to win the MIAA this year, not Hope. Calvin for some reason just seemed to play most of this year without a sense of urgency and lost some games that they have not lost in years past. In the last two weeks it seems the Calvin team has turned it around and I think they could easily run the table, including the MIAA tourney and an automatic bid to the NCAA. I certainly hope I am wrong but it would not surprise me at all.

PS I hate myself for saying nice things about Calvin like that.

Personally, I think Calvin is underachieving this year.

On the surface that seems true..........I've seen them in person 4 times and have only seen them play once with any desire.  They had a number of new faces replace old faces,  I think alot more was expected of the younger players and its taken longer than expected to get them to play within their system.

Anyone who has seen Adrian and Tri-State would be completely baffled that Calvin could lose to those opponents.

Their other 6 losses have come to Hope (2), Carthage, Wheaton, UW-LaCrosse and Wooster.  All have spent significant time in the top 25.

Just like a very good La Crosse team losing to River Falls and Eau Claire.

I'll show one of my cards.  I had Trinity at 16.

Looks like that wasn't as bad a choice as most would think.  I might even have to move them up a slot or two on this week's poll.

Mine is in.

And tabulated.  Now we just need 8 or 9 more!

After all the defeats, I'm amazed that you and I had the same top 13 (not all in the same place, of course!), and 24 of the same 25 (I didn't include your #25, you didn't include my #19).

Yeah, I can see that.  :-\

I don't know where you had my #20, but I felt that it was finally time.

Thanks for compiling this.  I really enjoy the Posters' Poll.  :)

Also in....

I was happy a couple teams lost, I wasn't totally comfy with their ratings in the first place.
