I am for 1-25, just because I'll probably rate 'em all somehow.

I like the idea of 1-25 exposes a larger number of teams through the ORV section. It gives a solid ranking of sometimes 40 teams or so, which is good because it allows a good poller to look into teams that others give votes to that he/she may not know about.  Plus that how the regular poll is done, so why not continue to emulate that with just a broader number of voters.

I agree (and have sometimes started following teams that were 'off my radar' because of it), but I'm game however people vote (as long as they vote!!).  I kinda like having 21-25 as a place for teams coming out of nowhere that I'm not sure really belong, or traditional powers that I'm not sure have really fallen that far.

I'll be ranking 1-25, whether you count the last five or not.

So when are we getting this thing started?

Between the holidays and people who are o.d.ing on bowl games, we kind of decided on next week - i.e., games thru January 13; selections due (PM preferred, to my email is also OK) by c. 8pm EST on Mondays.  [Hint: there are generally at most a handful of Sunday games of much relevance to the top 25, so a 'rough draft' can usually be done Saturday p.m.]

I hope everyone is as eager to start as you and I are! :)

Good!  I always am interested in seeing the poster's poll and what you guys think.

2007-08 Posters' Poll Begins!

The first poll of this season kicks off this weekend (all games thru Sunday the 13th).  Ballots are due Monday the 14th by 8pm EST (or later if turnout is lousy or the real poll is delayed).  I prefer ballots by Private Message, but by email (click on my name for address) is also acceptable.

A few very simple rules:

1. I reserve the right to omit ballots which are 'obvious' home-cooking.  (In two years I have never exercised this right, but feel obligated to include it just in case someone comes along with 6 of their top 10 from their [mediocre] conference. :))

2. If you have left out a team that everyone else is rating highly, I will seek clarification (time permitting, and only by PM).  This is NOT an attempt to sway the voting; most of the time the voter has admitted to an oversight.  But if I don't get an explanation, the ballot will still be counted as is.

3. I guarantee the privacy of your ballot (well, except for occasional banter among friends! ;)), but I DO encourage voters to 'out' themselves and explain their reasoning for teams ranked WAY higher or lower than others have done.  Our poll is certainly not in competition with Pat's, so learning each others reasoning is kind of the raison d'etre.

4. Have fun!  Some weeks this really seems like work, but if it wasn't (usually) fun, I certainly wouldn't be doing it!

I'll give it a try.  I haven't been following things as closely this year, but I can make an attempt.

Just four ballots in so far - c'mon guys! :)

So far 34 teams have been named - 18 on all four ballots, 4 on three, 4 on two, and 8 names only once each.

Different perspective leads to great variety, should be an interesting poll

Mr. Ypsi

We're now up to seven voters, including two new voices from the Northeast.  If all the voters from the last two years will join in, we can set a record for turnout!

And it is not too late for new blood - we are woefully shorthanded from the east (below New England), south and west (aside from the WIAC).  And so far, aside from Ralph, we haven't even heard from the past voters in ANY of those regions.
