Congrats to Emmanuel on winning the GNAC yesterday.

I do not know what the NCAA will reveal Monday afternoon, but if NYU gets a Pool C and draws the Saints at Tufts on Friday, I will definitely watch it in person.

Looks like the potential game would not be at Tufts, since Cousens Gym is mock projected for a men's pod under NCAA rules that men get hosting priority  in the opening weekend this year.

NYU vs Emmanuel at Bowdoin instead in the first round.

NYU leads the series 2-1.

Meg Barber was the NYU captain in the Elite Eight game in 2001, which Emmanuel won in OT after she hit the tying shot to force the game into OT.

Now, Meg Barber will coach NYU against the legendary coach Andy Yosinoff.

NYU is coming off a 17-37 from 3 pt range game at Brandeis-- a single game UAA record for most 3's made and attempted.

Brooklyn Shelton of NYU is among the top FT shooters in the nation.

NYU will be the favorite, but never count out the Saints.

If Emmanuel lets Katie Foos(NYU) open, that could be the difference.

GNAC Women's Conference update--

This week's D3Hoops.com Top 25 poll has seen GNAC South leader Albertus Magnus receive 1 poll point in the Top 25.  Albertus Magnus has never been ranked in the top 25 since the poll first came out in 1999-2000.

Last night, Albertus Magnus went to "the Jim" at Univ. of St. Joseph in West Hartford, CT, and the contest became the first DIII Women's basketball game to go to triple OT all season.

Last night was the first time in the program histories of both Albertus Magnus and Univ. of St. Joseph that these teams played a triple OT game in women's basketball.

Alb. Magnus survived, 106-104 in 3 OT to remain undefeated in GNAC play.  In the GNAC South, Albertus Magnus has a 3 1/2 game lead over Regis and a 4 1/2 game lead over Univ. of St. Joseph, with Albertus Magnus having a head-to-head sweep over Univ. of St. Joseph, and a 1-0 lead over Regis, with 5 games left for Albertus Magnus to play.

Albertus Magnus had approx 113 possessions in the ball game, with approx 77 of those taking place in regulation.

Albertus Magnus earlier this season also has defeated the top 2 teams in GNAC North in crossover play, with both of these victories coming at "the Nest" in New Haven, CT.  For Albertus Magnus, this season marks the third ever win in program history vs Emmanuel, and the first ever win in program history vs St. Joe's Maine Monks

As a result, the GNAC Women's Basketball Tournament in a few weeks looks poised to go through New Haven, CT, with both Emmanuel and St.Joe's Maine having to defeat Albertus Magnus at "the Nest' to gain the AQ in a 1 bid league-- no Pool C's are expected to be granted to GNAC given the current and cumulative OWPs of the top 3 GNAC contenders.

Here are the current Massey ratings of the top 3 GNAC teams

1.)  Albertus Magnus-- GNAC South leader--- #147
2.)  St.Joe"s Maine-- GNAC North leader--#136
3.)  Emmanuel-- GNAC North 2nd place-- #115

Courtesy of NCAA stats, here are the current and cumulative OWPs of the three teams before the GNAC tournament.

1.)  Emmanuel-- current OWP is .503 (ranked #212 in DIII), cumulative OWP is .505
2.)  St. Joe's Maine-- current OWP is .473 (ranked #273 in DIII), cumulative OWP is .461
3.)  Albertus Magnus-- current OWP is .464 (ranked #287 in DIII), cumulative OWP is .457

Here are the current PrestoSports D3Hoops.com NCAA SOS calculations of the top 3 GNAC Women's AQ contenders:

Calculations courtesy of:  d3hoops.com/seasons/women/2022-23/schedule?tmpl=sos-template

Emmanuel-- .507 (#203 in DIII)
Albertus Magnus-- .474 (#290 in DIII)
St. Joe's Maine-- .472 (#293 in DIII)

Great interview of Albertus Magnus women's head coach JR Fredette by Dave McHugh on the Hoopsville Marathon.  For this season, coach Fredette has earned the spotlight in GNAC women's hoop no matter what happens the rest of the way, thanks to his team defeating both Emmanuel and St. Joe's Maine in the same season for the first time in the history of the program.

Of course, to get to the NCAA tournament, the Falcons will have to most likely have to repeat that feat in the GNAC tournament-- only this time, they will have to do it back-to-back in less than 1/2 a week. The fortunate news is that Albertus Magnus will most likely get to have home court again to do this.    If they successfully defend home court in the GNAC tournament and win the AQ, Albertus Magnus will come into NCAAs on house money.

In other news last night, on the Hoopsville Marathon Happy Hour, the panel showed last night's Dean at St. Joe's Maine women's box score, where St. Joe's Maine won by the score of (I kid you not) 80-5.  Dean was held to 2-33 from the field, 0-3 from 3 pt land, and 1-6 from the charity stripe for the game.

It is very difficult for a team to go winless in league play and overall, but the Dean Bulldogs look like a safe bet to do both with only 4 games left to play.
