Some question marks that I have early on include the Saints depth. They have a 15 women roster but in my opinion they only go about 8 maybe 9 deep.  The starting 5 includes johnson, paez, mccoy, brittan bushman and molly forbes when everyone is healthy.  This starting 5 will dominate any other 5 in the GNAC.

let's just say that the depth question will be resolved once they get back from Cali. a little birdie has been spreading a rumor that the Saints are about to be reunited with their former floor general to make for one helluva 1-2 punch in the backcourt.

JWU started 4-2 early on but then lost badly to Colby-Sawyer.  I'm not sure how good they are, but they already started much better than last year.  They seem inconsistent by the scoreboard, but at least improving.  Daniel Webster also pulled some early wins...are they going to be decent this year?

Is JWU going to be any better with a new coach?  I'd say JWU has the most potiential to be very competitive.  Big enrollment nice facility, just needed a solid coach to recruit steady and bring in solid players.  Very easy to recruit nationally at JWU.

Hey Pops,

I also spoke to that little birdie, and if it holds up, we can all look forward too a very entertaining season. The ONLY problem I see is
who will be designated to come off the bench. I would have to guess that Bushman go to the bench. It gives them more firepower off the bench and gives them 2 starting point guards in their starting 5. Either one can switch off to play the 2, I just hope these girls can cathc some of the passes that will almost assuredly be coming their way. Emmanuel will lead the league in steals for sure. Good Job Saints against Endicott, my girl went for 13, 17 and 8 thats twice she missed her first triple doulbe by 2 block shots. Keep up the good work Toots....

well too bad the birdie didn't send good vibes to cali. the saints took an L. chapman is apparently a pretty decent team. and they lost to redlands, the saints' next opponent. here's to hoping it can only get better.

News of note from last night:

Last night's Emmanuel at Chapman game marked Evita Esteves's return to the Emmanuel lineup after missing out a season and a half due primarily to injury.  Evita Esteves was the starting point guard for Emmanuel before her injury, and she is the only Emmanuel player, male or female, to have ever hit a quad-double in an NCAA DIII basketball game (points, rebounds, assists, and steals.)

Last night, Evita Esteves came off the bench and scored 5 points, had 3 steals and 2 rebounds in 18 minutes of action.  She still has to work on her A/TO ratio-- she had 0 assists and 5 turnovers.

If Evita can get back to near 100%, Jade Paez will have a very effective back-up point guard at the very least.

BTW, the final score last night was Chapman 63, Emmanuel 56.  Both teams combined for 71 turnovers-- Emmanuel committed 36 turnovers, and Chapman committed 35 turnovers.

Biggirlzdontcry

Since Esteves has returned, should the rest of the GNAC just mail it in? I still like either WNEC or Norwich to challenge Emmanuels dominance of this conference. It's clear that the interesting race will be amongst the mediocre teams to see who get's in the tournament and faces Emmanuel in the first or second round to end their seasons. If Evita is as good as advertised, I doubt there is a backcourt in this conference that can contend with them.

Poppadoc

71 TURNOVERS????
You cant blame that on jet lag...they were already there for over 3 days b4 the 1st game.

It will take some time for Evita to get back into game shape, maybe another 2-3 games. Once she does, it will make the bench that much stronger, whether she starts with Jade or comes off the bench for Brittany. I was kinda hoping she would be ready by this weekend for the Bowdion game. I am curious as to why she only played 18 minutes though ??? I am sure on the flight home, (they are in Atlanta as I type) Andy will be giving them an earful about protecting the ball because 36 to is just no good. It shows lack of concentration above anything else. Chew em out Andy, make them mad so they can take it out on the Polar Bears.

monopoly

what's happening at wnec? second starter leaves team.

d3bballinboston

no idea but they got someone from Newbury who was averaging 10 points a game there.

Snowman

Wow, somebody averaging 10 whole points a game,  hope I get to see that

Poppadoc

Hey Snowman~

Have you ever played any basketball ??? To average 10 points a game is not easy. Anyone who hits that average for 4 yrs will score over a thousand pts in a career. Especially with the amount of games being played 25-30 a season.

I hope the Saints get their act together before the conference games start. Norwich is looking pretty good......hopefully they exact revenge on Tufts tomorrow night.

Snowman

Hey Pop......(do you want to come out and Playayayyyyyyy)

Fisrt, nooooooobody said it was 10 points a game for the career

Second, on a bad bad team, I don't care if somebody scores 1500 points.....nothing worse then some kid taking every shot under the sun, scoring 1000 points and on a team that can't win 50% of their games.........ITS ABOUT WINNING NOT SCORING

Poppadoc

Ok Snowman~

We are both dealing in hypothetical (sic) here.

I was just saying that to average 10pts a game is not an easy thing to do.  The career stats was just as an example  to show what 10pts a game will get you.

Your right you dont need one kid taking 30 -40 shots a game, but if the team is that complacent in their shooting, then SOMEBODY has to shoot.

Unfortunately, I dont play anymore. I will stick with the refereeing and coaching. If you want to play my daughter Lateisha, I am sure she is up for the challenge. Let me know I will set it up......

Winning comes second only to SPORTSMANSHIP.

pops

yo...y'all are mad funny. anyways, emmanuel dealt with tufts tonight 75-61. they were down by one at the half and came back to lay the smacketh on 'em while turning th eball over only 13 times.

d3bballinboston

13 is still a lot of turnovers.  I am sure Yosinoff is going crazy over there. I can only imagine what he looks like going up and down the sideline.  i have to see he is one of the most entertaining coaches in New England to watch.
