When is the NIIC tourney... this weekend?
Baseball is not a game that builds character, it is a game that reveals it.

Looks like Aurora's two pitchers completely shut Carthage down, congratulations on the win. I wouldn't be surprised if these two teams meet again with something bigger on the line later down the road with both teams regular weekend starting pitchers throwing. Again, congrats on the win.

REDMENFAN

Any word on if Carthage and Lakeland are going to make up their double header?

BigPoppa

I doubt they will make it up. If so, it would have to be Monday or Tuesday next week as the CCIW tourney starts on Thursday.

The teams are wrapping up conference play with two games tonight. The tournament will be next weekend for the top four teams. Clarke and Benedictine play tonight after Rockford plays Aurora this afternoon. Current standings are below. For more information, keep an eye on http://www.niiconline.com/men/baseball. Records were pulled from that site as well, so pardon any inaccuracies that may occur, but I'm pretty sure they're right. Thanks again for your interest in NIIC athletics.

AURORA (27-7, 14-0)

CONCORDIA (18-17, 9-6)

BENEDICTINE (18-17-1, 7-7)

CLARKE (14-22, 7-7)

ROCKFORD (14-21, 6-8)

EUREKA (1-32, 0-15)

+1 Karma RCSID!

Please keep posting URL's to pertinent NIIC news! :)

Aurora looks very strong as a Pool B bid!

Brackets are now posted.

Rockford will play Aurora to begin at ISU as Benedictine faces off against Clarke at Eureka. Most games of the tournament will be played at Illinois State University. Rockford is 1-2 against Aurora, and Benedictine is 2-1 against Clarke this season.

Aurora is already moving to a new conf. starting in the 2006-2007 school year..

Teams include: Averno College, Aurora University, Benedictine University, Clarke College, Concordia University-River Forest, Concordia University-Wisconsin, Dominican University, Edgewood College, Lakeland College, Maranatha Baptist Bible College, Marian College, Milwaukee School of Engineering, Rockford College, and Wisconsin Lutheran College.

It's a merger of the the Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference and the Lake Michigan Conference

That should make for a very competitive conference. Aurora, Lakeland, Concordia-River Forest, Edgewood, Lakeland, Ill. Benedictine, Rockford and Marian have ALL had quality team in the past few season. 8 of the 14 (or 12) will be quality programs that have reasonable chances to compete right away. It is a great move for all those schools involved.

I know im about 2 months late but Now that i know about this link I need to get caught up on some of the posts. is there anyway somebody can post the records of all those teams that will be in that conference. also with that many teams once again now all you have to do is when the conf. tourney and your in the regional again correct?

Those are good Numbers but nothing like a guy who graduated a few years ago! What was his name again? Man that guy was awesome?

Brady Salter-RHP- (Aurora Univ.) 6'5-215
7-2
3.84 era
IP-63.1
SO-49
B/Avg.-.288

CoachKs, you might be mistaken with Murphy.  Here are some reasons why:

1.  Murphy just graduated in 2005.
2.  His best season came in 2004 with these stats, which aren't too far off from Salter:
     8-1; 3.81 era; 75.2 IP, 52 SO; .261 B/Avg.
3.  His senior season he posted these numbers with a depleated BU offense:
    4-6; 4.59 era; 66.2 IP; 33 SO; 73 H

Murphy would have had better numbers his senior season with a better squad around him, but that's how it goes in team sports.  Look through the list again, maybe another name will "ring a bell."

Murphy? Sorry murphy if your in this site as well, however I know who and which team gave Murphy that lonely loss. The Team would be AU and the  Pitcher would be myself 3-1

Im kind of surprised with how much attention Brady Salter gets on this site...Lets not forget he left a DI program because he was not going to get any innings there...Coming from somebody who has hit off him, he does have good velocity, but his fastball is straight as an arrow...Ask his redbird teammates from ISU, they'll tell you the same thing

Ask the New York Yankees about Salter, they'll tell you why they drafted him.

Good One Bodhi I would say the Yankee's scout would know a little bit more that a your average ballplayer. Check/mate

Here's what the NAthCon looks like:

Aurora 28-9, 14-1 NIIC, 9-2 NAthCon
Edgewood, 28-12, 17-4 LMC, 14-4 NAthCon
Marian, 21-17, 14-7 LMC, 13-5 NAthCon
Concordia (Wis.), 22-17, 14-7 LMC, 12-8 NAthCon
Concordia (Ill.), 20-20, 9-6 NIIC, 6-4 NAthCon
Benedictine, 18-17-1, 7-7 NIIC, 7-6 NAthCon
Dominican, 19-19, 13-8 LMC, 12-10 NAthCon
Lakeland, 15-23, 11-10 LMC, 11-12 NAthCon
Wisconsin Lutheran, 8-31, 5-16 LMC, 4-14 NAthCon
Rockford, 15-25, 7-8 NIIC, 2-8 NAthCon
Maranatha Baptist, 2-28, 0-21 LMC, 0-18 NAthCon

At the very least this was good practice for me to remember who's in the league. But it's a half-hour of my life I'll never get back.
