NAthCon playoff scenarios:

Concordia-WI must sweep Edgewood and have one of the following scenarios take place:

1--    Concordia-Chicago loses at least 2 games (the make-up with Rockford and 1 vs. Marian or both against Marian).

  2--    Marian also sweeps Edgewood.

(The 2 Concordia squads split a doubleheader when they met during the regular season. Should they end up tied, whoever wins the tie-breaker won't be determined until after all the 5-06 finals come in.)

Rockford's Game 1 victory over Lakeland eliminates the Muskies from NAthCon playoff contention.

You had alot of company in those that overlooked Rockford and their pitching as they were picked 9th in the preseason poll. New coach and some new players along with a positive attitude have changed the way some school look at them now. They were down for quite awhile but in the last 5 years have improved a little each year to something the school can be proud of. Great Job by Koopman and his staff in his first year but their is still plenty of baseball to be played yet

Suspended game from sunday dh (rockford vs. Lakeland) 2nd game that was suspended with rockford leading 13-12 . Rockford was today declared the winner of game (source was Lakeland's website)

The Lakeland baseball team won't get a chance to finish its game against Rockford after all.

Coaches from both teams decided Monday that the Regents will get a 13-12 win over the Muskies as a result of Sunday's game two at RiverHawks Stadium in Loves Park, Ill.

Sunday night's contest was suspended in the bottom of the eighth inning due to lightning. It was originally thought the final inning would need to be completed due to an NCAA rule that all games must be completed or go into the books as a tie. However, both coaches can override that rule by deciding that the game can officially end after five innings, but that fact was not known last night. The decision to call the game was made this morning after speaking with Northern Athletics Conference Commissioner Steve Larson

Wow! Well, it makes sense. Lakeland was eliminated from the playoffs , and as you indicated, Rockford had already clinched a playoff berth anyway, so they didn't really need to finish it. . Just another of the many twists in "As the NAthCon 2007 Baseball Season Turns"

(Tune in for next week's final regular season episode, in which Commissioner Larson slaps palms with all his staff and shouts "Wow, I can't believe we finally got all the regular season games in!") Ba dumm bumm.  :D :D :D

Back when I was in grade school there was a margarine ad that had a four-note trumpet "royal" solo and the punch line "It's not nice to fool with Mother Nature!" That's been about it.

Latest NAthCon updates:

4/30 Non-Conference Final:  Edgewood 10, Loras (Iowa) 2  (7-run 6th was the difference here--Dictus got the win--Edgewood site.) 2nd game rained out.

Edgewood's games against UW-Stevens Point postponed. (Should they be able to be worked in, Edgewood can put a feather in its' cap by sweeping the Pointers.)
