Concordia-Chicago sweeps Marian  12-2, 9-4  (1st game 8 innings--Marian starter gave up 6 runs in 1st inning, Cougars' Jusk tosses 6-hitter and opener ends after Walker belts a 3-run HR; In game 2, a 4-run 5th sealed the sweep for the Cougars-CUC PBP accts).

Lakeland sweeps Dominican 6-4, 1-0  (Muskie's Miller got the save with the potential tying run at the plate in the opener: David Novak knocked in the only run of the game in the 6th inning of the nightcap, and it held up. --Dom box scores-PBP accts).

CUC vs Carthage today. Big in-region game for both squads. Should be high schoring as both teams hit, but will save arms for the conference tourneys this weekend.

Rockford also swept Maranatha to officially clinch the #2 seed.  It's an All-Illinois NAC tournament

1. CUC
2. Rockford
3. Aurora
4. Benedictine

I can see the NathCON winner possibly being sent to the Central regional at Augustana (Rock Island, IL).

Final:  Concordia-Chicago 13, Carthage 6 (Cougars used a 6-run 2nd to pull ahead for good; With that cushion, they also used 6 pitchers in the game-per Concordia-Chicago box score-PBP acct).

CUC has beaten all the CCIW teams this year and they also have 30 wins....... Is there any chance that they can get an at large bid with their record and with big wins against webster, augustana, illinois wesleyan, and carthage?

The 30 wins were against a relatively weak schedule so I am not certain that 30 wins carries a ton of weight in their situation, but the CCIW wins may balance that out.

28-8 in region is CUC......that has to carry weight.

Who else will be selected over them?....IWU....oh wait, CUC beat them, and have a better in region record....

To throw some kerosene on it, I think CUC's in-region record is 28-7.

Aurora 11, Rockford 1. Rockford batting in the bottom of the 6th.

Aurora 14-1, Final.

Ralph Turner

Aurora/ Concordia-Chicago scoreless in the second.

WLCALUM83

Final:  Concordia-Chicago 3, Aurora 1 (Single Cougar runs in 8th & 9th gave them all they needed, Buss came on to get the save, getting the last 2 outs with the potential tying run at the plate-per box score.)

Concordia-Chicago's probably glad they won't have to play 3 full games tomorrow, like last season (unless they get into one that --per chance--lasts 27 innings :o :o)

WLCALUM83

Rockford 16, Benedictine 4  (IL Eagles are eliminated). 4 Regent players went yard and an 8-spot and a 5-spot keeps Rockford alive for another day.

After Aurora eliminated Rockford, the Cougars knocked off the Spartans again, 12-6!

Kudlik got the win and Walker, Series and Stephens all went yard.
