Carthage fan here but I was at the game yesterday.  Carthage's 3 pitchers looked very good.  Evo's splitter started out great but lost a little toward the end.  Olson looks like an experienced pitcher, mixed up speeds good.  Husing throws gas.

REDMENFAN

Thanks for the info. Olson and Husing both have touched 90 mph on a regular basis, and Evosovich simply keeps hitters off balance with all those pitches he throws for strikes.

I had a felling those two could touch 90, probably consistantly at the end of the season.  I don't have much to compare them with, obviously they are better than BU's pitchers.  I hope to get to Kane County Stadium this Sunday to see AU.  With any luck Salter will pitch.

LMC Standings:

                        LMC    Overall
Edgewood       2-1      11-5
Concordia-WI  2-1       8-5

WI Lutheran    1-1       3-11
Marian             1-2        6-6
Lakeland         1-2        2-9

Any thought or surprises?

Lakeland is very disappointing this year. 2-6 in the LMC is not what they had in mind when they let Coach Weber go!!

After talking with some of the Lakeland faithful, they passed up some very good coaches in their search to hire Assistant Coach John Govek last year. Thoughts? Was it a good move?

I know that at least one of the coaches they passed on would have been a great addition to the school.

REDMENFAN

No matter who they hired, I don't think they could have done the job Weber did. Look at what he did to that program. They won several conference championships in a row, and finished 5th in the nation one year! Lakeland was not considered a powerhouse by any stretch, and he made them into one during his short tenure there. Bottom line is that there is no way Lakeland's administration should have let him go. I realize if someone wants to move on and move up in their coaching career that is one thing, but that was not the case at all in Weber's situation.

Captain Morgan

I know that nobody could have done the job that Weber did, I just think that John Govek may not have been the best choice for their Head Coach. I am sure there were other, much more qualified candidates for that position that had local knowledge and more college coaching experience.

I think they overlooked candidates to appease those directly involved in the Weber situation in order to try to save face with those who supported the Weber/Govek combination. I also admire Weber for standing up for what he believed in even though it cost him his job.

Marian            7- 5
Concordia       6- 6
Lakeland        6- 6

It looks like Dominican is making a legitimate run for the LMC title in its first LMC season. Is their former conference that much better than the LMC?

Big Poppa, the NIIC has some good baseball teams in it.  We can see who the Pool B selections will be, and if any are from the NIIC.

Please remember that the NIIC and the LMC are merging.

There is more merger discussion on the Hoops LMC and NIIC boards.

Who do you see winning this weekend.

AU vs Benedictine

Rockford vs Eureka

Clarke vs Concordia

I see AU and Rockford winning all 3 and Concordia winning 2 of 3.

I saw an article on NCAA website about Chapple from Aurora, does anyone know if he will throw this weekend?
I would love to watch him throw.

It also looks like a crazy race for the conference tourney in the NIIC.

Any predictions for this weekend?
RC vs AU
Ben vs Clarke
EC vs Con

Wow... talk about the middle of the conference being tight!! Does the NIIC have a tournament? If so, how many teams get in?

4 teams get into the conference tournament out of the 6 competing. This will be the final NIIC tournament before the transition to the Northern Athletic Conference. Due to a series of rainouts this weekend, every team in the NIIC currently sits at 12-13 games out of their 15 to complete prior to the tournament. Benedictine will play Clarke in 3 games this week while Rockford plays Aurora for the remaining two games of their series and Eureka and Concordia face off for two.
