Looks there is definate potential of a Carthage/Aurora rematch round 2 of the tournament, and maybe another meeting later in the tournament. This has become a great rivalry over the past few years with. I hope both take care of business Wednesday and get to square off Thursday in order to see who's in the driver's seat for the rest of the tourney

Only way Aurora and Carthage will square off on Thursday is if Aurora loses their opening game to tournament host Washington U.  That's a very real possibility.  I'm going to assume that Washington will pitch Brent Buffa in the first round game.  Buffa has appeared in 13 games, started 11, completed 10, has a 10-0 record, an ERA of 2.24 and is holding his opponents to a .219 batting average.

It looks like Aurora has a couple of aces as well so their first round game should be a low scoring affair.  Maybe the kind of game where home field advantage is enough to make a difference.  If Aurora does lose, it looks like they will be a dangerous opponent for Carthage (assuming a Carthage victory on Wednesday) in another game that promises some outstanding pitching.

Sorry, I thought if they both win that they would face eachother. I was in no way predicting that they were going to lose their first round game...

6/7 team regionals mess me up... too many scenarios to play out to accurately predict who plays who in each round.

Baseball is not a game that builds character, it is a game that reveals it.

If Aurora plays like they did last year they will be in trouble. If they come out and play like they did in 04 with the pitching they have they will be able to go a long way. They averaged about 14 runs a game in the regional then. Makes pitching really easy when you do that.

The preseason top 2 D3 prospects in the country going head to head. GO SPARTANS

Dos

The Lakeland AD had no intention of hiring Govak, but Weber basically backed them into it.  Lakeland had eliminated the part time job Govac had and the AD told Weber that she had no job for Govak.  Every job that Weber suggested, the AD said he was to fat or over weight for.  Weber accused her of discrimination in  a meeting with other people and she fired him for that.  Govac interviewed for the head coaching job and the AD was telling everyone in the athletic office how poorly he had done.  Weber then filed his claim against Lakeland for firing him after he accused them of discrimination and they immiadetly hired Govac.

Now that the claim Weber had against Lakeland was settled this past winter, and they no longer have the discrimination claim hanging over them, the AD has fired Govac this week.

Who are the top contenders for the Lakeland job?

Wow, interesting stuff. I knew there were some problems, i didn't know it was that personal. I went to Lakeland College my freshman year for a semester, and Weber one of the main reasons why. He's an outstanding baseball coach, completely turned that program around, and probably will land a big time coaching job before he is done. I know UW-Parkside was interested in him a few years back, they are a D-2 school that came a game away from the world series last year.

BigPoppa,

You are from that area, right? Why don't you take a shot at that job? I know you have college head coaching experience under your belt in California.

REDMENFAN

Congrats to Aurora on the win. Good luck the rest of the way
