Concordia Chicago Cougars move to 9-1 after beating Webster and Wartburg on Sunday.  This week they are scheduled at North Park on Tuesday.  Are they the team to beat in the NAC?

At 2nd in NAthCon in hitting and with the opposition hitting for a low average against them to this point, they could be.

Does Edgewood's high ERA surprise anyone?

Edgewood's whole season so far surprises me.  Although they have played good teams in UWW, Piedmont and LaGrange.  I think they'll be ready to go for the conference season when they return from Fla, but 9 games in I thought they'd have more than two wins.

Concordia Cougars beat North Park 11-5 today.  It seems that CUC has found its power with 6 home runs over the weekend and 3 today.  Big match up this weekend with Augie

(All sources are box scores off NAthCon's site).

Augustana IL 11, Benedictine 9 (W -Doyle  L -Thompson  Augie put up a 5-spot in 5th inning which was the difference, per NAthCon box score)

Rockford splits with Beloit, 9-8 and 7-9, 1st game 10 innings. (1st game, Regents' Smith drives in winning run with a one-out single)  (2nd game Beloit gets an 8-1 lead and Regents comeback falls short. Regents pitchers of decision:  Jones won the opener, Patterson saddled with the loss,)

Tough loss against Augustana (13th ranked team in the nation) on Monday for CUC, but they came back with a huge win over Wheaton today.

I think they have shown so far that they deserve their top 25 ranking (#25 in the recent poll).  Their power is coming around (finally) and they have proven they can beat some of the better teams around.

With an 11-2 record, beating Wheaton and just barely losing to Augie, I think they are definitely the team to beat in the conference this year... hands down.

They start NAC play this Saturday against Dominican so we will see.  But everyone better watch out this year.

AU has been quite strong in baseball for the past several years. Has there been a drop off in talent? Has the lack of an on campus diamond hurt recruiting also? I hope they can climb back into the mix and challenge for the title. Any thoughts?
