Speaking of the Spartans, they swept WLC today, 13-2 and 12-4

4-14 NAthCon Finals:

Concordia-Chicago splits with Marian  3-2 and 5-6  (G1 W -Petersen  L -Wolter:  Gernand earned save by getting Goodfellow to ground into DP with potential tying run on base. G2 W  -Raddant, L  -Gernand  Sabers' Beau drove in GW run with bunt single in nightcap.)

Lakeland 6, Dominican 3  (W -Saiberlich  L -Eiffel   Save -Van Camp   6-run 7th put Muskies ahead to stay).

Edgewood sweeps WLC  14-2, 10-2  (WI Eagles used a 6-run 8th in the opener, and "chunk by chunk" damage-scoring in bunches over several innings in the nightcap, to gain the sweep.)

Rockford sweeps Maranatha  10-0 and 13-1 (Rockford went "chunk by chunk mode" on offense in the opener, then scored all the runs in the nightcap over the last 2 innings.)

Aurora splits with Concordia-WI  13-3 and 3-7 (G1 W -Salazar  L -Tomter  Spartans plated 7 runs to break it open in the lid-lifter. G2 W -Duckett  L -Mueller  A 2-run 9th gave the Falcons all they needed.  Info per box scores off Aurora site.)

4-15 NAthCon Finals:

Concordia-WI sweeps Maranatha 15-1 and 18-5  (Both games were routs, with the Falcons scoring in every inning of the nightcap.)

Edgewood splits with Dominican  3-8 and 7-5  (Stars used a 5-run 5th to clinch the opener, Edgewood plated 5 runs of their own in 4th inning of nightcap; With the potential game-tying run at the plate, Eagles' Marlowe got Batchelor to ground out to 2nd to end it.)

WLC 9, Concordia-Chicago 8  :o :o ??? ??? (W -Schmidt, L -Meyers  WLC put up a 6-spot in the 5th and then held on: Lynch earned the save by getting Giorano to fly to right with the potential winning runs on base in this make-up game.)

Non-conference:  Wheaton IL over Benedictine  14-11.  (IL Eagle press release indicates that a rally from an 11-2 hole fell short.)

NAthCon Finals:

4-15 "leftovers"  Rockford sweeps MSOE  16-0 and 12-2.  (Regents used a 9-run 3rd to break open the lid-lifter and went into "chunk by chunk mode" on O in the nightcap to get the sweep.)

4-16:  Rockford sweeps Lakeland  9-4 and 11-7  (Rockford got 5 in the first and held on in the opener, and used a 4-run 8th-- Trunninger, B Smith and Brockman getting the RBI's for the sweep.)

          Carthage sweeps Marian  15-14 and 9-1  (Red Men's Richardson got Sabers' Ansfield to ground out with the potential tying run on 2nd base to end the opener, Carthage got 4 in the 5th and hung on in the night-cap.)

          Edgewood defeats UW Plateville  10-4  (9 Eagle runs unearned, Edgewood plated 7 runs to erase an early 3-0 deficit and hung on.)

          Beloit 12, MSOE 2  (Buccaneers used an 8-run 8th to break this one open.)

Concordia-Chicago 10, Elmhurst 5  (Cougars used a 4-run 8th to break this one open,

UW-Platteville 8, Rockford 4 (Platt scored 7 runs in their last 4 innings.)

4-18 NAthCon Finals:

Benedictine sweeps Maranatha  15-1 and 11-1  (Ready and Thompson get the wins, per Ben press release).

Dominican 12, U of Chicago 7  (W -Hunoway  L -Ginsberg:  Stars come back from early 3-0 deficit, then put 5 runs across in the 8th to give themselves all the cushion they needed, per Dom box score.)

Ripon sweeps Lakeland  5-0 and 19-0  (Redhawks use a 3-run 7th to clinch the opener, and in the nigtcap score big in every inning except 2, 4 and 7 to get the sweep, per Lakeland box scores.)

Concordia-Chicago sweeps Maranatha  15-0, 11-0  (G1 7 inn  G2  8 inn) as reported on CUC site.

Edgewood at Benedictine--postponed, per WI Eagle site.

Marian sweeps Dominican 6-3 and 6-1  (Sabers' Raddant and Dayton get the wins, per Marian press release).

WLC sweeps MSOE  14-12 and 4-3  (G1  Warriors jumped out to a 13-5 lead after 4, then held on --Hutsen got Hansen to ground into game-ending DP with poteintial tying runs on base. G2  Essig drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth and Lemke left the potential tying run on 2nd in the 9th by retiring the last 3 MSOE hitters he faced. Aurora sweeps Lakeland 3-1 and 8-6  (Muskes left 17 runners on base on the day, per Lakeland press release.)

4-20 NAthCon Finals:

Concordia-WI sweeps MSOE  6-3 and 8-2  (A Courvoisier 9th inning HR put the Falcons ahead to stay in G1:  Falcons led 6-0 after 4 innings in nightcap and earned the sweep.)

Aurora splits with Edgewood  9-3 and 1-6  (A 6-run 8th inning clinched the opener for the Spartans;  Lode goes the distance in G2 to salvage the split for the Eagles).

Concordia-Chicago sweeps Lakeland, 12-2 and 7-4  (Cougars scored in every inning but the 3rd and 5th in the opener;  Series scored the go-ahead run on a passed ball and Truckenbrod drove in a couple of insurance runs with a double in the nightcap to ensure a Cougar sweep.)

Rockford sweeps Marian,  5-2 and 7-5  (Findlay went the distance in G1-- B Smith drove in the game-winning run in the 7th inning in G2 to give the Regents the sweep.

Dominican sweeps WLC  3-0 and 6-4.(Stars' Davey hurls a 6-hit shutout in the opener; A Mercado 2-run double in the 4th gave Dominican the lead for good in the nightcap.)

4-21 NAthCon Non-Conference Final:

Augustana IL 8, Rockford 5  (Late Regents rally falls short, per Rockford box score).

4-22-08 NAthCon Finals:

MSOE sweeps Maranatha, 2-0 and 9-2: (A Robinson HR gave Raiders all the O they needed to take the opener, a 4-run 8th in G2 gave MSOE the doubleheader sweep).

Concordia-WI 8, Benedictine 3: (Falcons got a 3-run 8th, then Meyer got Graham to ground out to P with bases loaded in the 9th to end it.)

Ripon sweeps Marian, 14-12 and 8-5:  (Ripon got a 10-0 lead in G1, then held on as Bruce struck out Wilson (had Wilson gone yard at that point, the game would have been tied.)  Ripon put a 4-spot up in 5th inning of G2 to take the lead for good.

Carthage 9, Lakeland 8 (Red Men broke out to a big lead early, then held on,. Richardson got Hablewitz to foul out to C with potential tying run on 3rd in 9th.)

Illinois Wesleyan beats Concordia-Chicago 8-7.  (IL Wes uses a 6-run ninth to nose out the Cougars, per CUC box score).

I can't believe CUC losing in the final inning, to make it worse 6 runs in the final inning.  They had the game in the bag on a central region powerhouse in Illinoi Wesleyan.

They need to beat teams like this to have a chance at the playoffs.

Hopefully they can reach close to 30 wins this year.

North Central 5, Concordia-Chicago 0.  (North Central's Kloss hurls a 2-hit shutout.)

Rockford, Concordia-Chicago and Edgewood would have the best chances, but one of those three would have to win out and then hope other borderline Pool B contenders slip, IMHO.
