Deshaun Vaden looks like an intriguing player.  6-10, listed as a sophomore but I can not find anything on where he was last year.

if you've been in college since the Carter administration and are a pre-season All-American, you have to have more than....looks at stats....zero points in the first half.  Get Parker some coffee or something

Not the best start for Mount.  42-33 Yeshiva at half.  Mount needs to clean up the rebounding.  Way too many second chance buckets for Yeshiva (14 pts).  That and getting beat for backdoor cut layups multiple times.  Mount is shooting 36% including 2-13 from 3 so far which doesn't help.  Parker is scoreless and has been in foul trouble.  He picked up his 1st foul on the 1st possession of the game.

Starters were Hudson, Talbert, Farrington, Parker, Laurich.  The newcomers that played off the bench in the first half logging at least 7 min each were Moore, Casenhiser and Taylor.  All three have looked a little over anxious which is understandable.

I chuckled at the WRMU kid mentioning that he didn't like the slow start from Mount and that "it's been a problem with other sports this year."

They might want to consider not leaving Samet wide open since he's now 9-16 with 22 points barely out of halftime.  He's had way too many open looks today.

the post players not shooting threes seems to be working a little

Farrington is going to be a solid, solid player, love the energy.  But they might need to reign in the trying to force  up low % interior shots

Yeshiva definitely outplayed Mount, was more prepared, more fundamental and their stars were better

Dr. Acula

It's like he's assuming he's going to draw the foul each time and doesn't focus on making the shot.

Also, could have maybe done without the back to back Parker three point attempts down 4.  They were, uhh, not close.

D3fanboy

not showing up in the first half was the killer for Mount.  Yeshiva was consistent and clean throughout the entire game, the end game free throw contest was never going to work.  Hopefully the Raiders can clean it up and learn from this

Dr. Acula

Mount drops it 86-81.  Tough to win shooting 3-22 from three and giving up a lot of layups on the defensive end.  They battled back in the second half, but definitely work to do.  I'm increasing my concern level about perimeter shooting after one game.  Overreaction?  Maybe.  But to some extent we know what we have to a large degree.

D3fanboy

if Mount, the more athletic team, cut those 3's in half, I bet the outcome would have been a bit different

Not to pile on, but Mount Union is clearly not the #19 team in the nation. It was almost like they didn't have the scouting report on Zevi ... he is a really good shooter, you probably don't want to leave him wide open  ;D . Mount will learn from this and hopefully grow as a team.

Dr. Acula

The Samet thing is inexcusable.  The PBP guy said he averaged 22 ppg last year.  You need to be in his grill from the opening tip.  Mount just got out-executed.  Yeshiva ran their half court offense really well and beat them repeatedly with back cuts for layups.  And they were very efficient shooting the ball.  Mount shot like crap, but Yeshiva just outplayed them today.  Move on and work on things.

I thought they started the game with pretty good defensive strategy.  They either didn't stick with it or Yeshiva adapted really well.
