How does UMHB have more fans here than Heidelberg, which is 2 hours from Angola?

How many fans does UMHB have there?  I wouldn't expect Berg to have anything but family there so around 30 or so people would be my guess.

Looking at some OAC box scores and noticed that last year's OAC newcomer of the year, Baden Forup, was not in the Cap box score.  Looks like Forup transferred to D2 Pitt-Johnstown.  He was Cap's leading scorer and rebounder last year.

FWIW Wooster beat up on Yeshiva 85-64 yesterday.  Samet shot 4-16 from the floor and Yeshiva was 3-20 from 3 as a team.

Yeshiva did play as well Sunday as they did Friday, but even if they had, I still it would've been a 10 point win for Wooster.  The Scots are very good.

Mount leads Alfred St. 46-34 at half.  The Raiders size is causing major problems for Alfred.  40 points in the paint so far.  Parker, Farrington and Laurich are having their way in the paint so far.

The game was stopped and both teams were sent back to the locker room after Laurich was hurt on a dunk and left the floor on a stretcher heading to the ambulance.  Hopefully it was just a bad fall and nothing too serious.

Mount cruised to a 100-63 win at Alfred St.  Mount overmatched them athletically and size wise.  Parker and Farrington around the lane was the recipe last night.  Right now that seems to be their best plan offensively.  Hudson did a nice job getting to the rim.  McCartney hit three 3 pointers in his limited bench minutes (albeit one was banked in), but otherwise just nothing going down from the perimeter again (5-24 from 3).  In fairness 5 of those attempts were at the very end in mop up time, but still not good from your rotational players before that.  If the game plan calls for perimeter shooting I would not be surprised to see Skeriotis and/or Collier get minutes that game.

I forgot to post about watching the Mount game against Brockport on Friday.  It wasn't overly competitive as Mount only had two guys even crack 20 minutes.  Mount jumped out 14-0 and was never really challenged winning 100-71.  Their defensive intensity was fantastic.  Brockport shot 39% from the floor.  Mount forced 20 turnovers including 7 steals and racked up 8 blocks.

Offensively Mount was very aggressive going to the hoop and forcing the action.  Hudson especially.  He finished with 15, 4 and 4 including 7-8 FT thanks to the aforementioned driving.  Parker had a ho hum 14 and 11 on 7-11 shooting.  A couple of the newcomers hit double figures in Moore (11) and Casenhiser (10).  Taylor also had two big time blocks (think volleyball spike).  I'm still sticking with he reminds me a little of Poole defensively.  He's 6'5" and long.

Next up is Bluffton at Wooster on Friday which should be a win.  Then they may get Wooster on Saturday.

I'm at the GLI. Luke Chicone limped off in last night's game. He's in a boot today.

That's not good news for JCU.  They're good without him but if they want to be great they need him running the show.  Hopefully the boot is just a precaution.

Mount lost 79-73 Saturday at Wooster to fall to 3-2.  They fell behind early trailing by 10 at half due mainly to poor shooting (37%), but battled back to cut the lead to 1 with a minute and a half to play.  Parker had a fairly quiet first half, but played really well in the second half before fouling out late.  He finished with 20 pts on 8-10 shooting (2-2 3P).  Talbert had 17 including 5-7 from 3 which was a welcome bonus to have someone heat up from deep.  Mount had some trouble with Wooster's big man down low as Everett finished with 19.  Wooster looks like a solid team, but my hunch is these are both fringe top 25 teams as opposed to top 20 teams.

Onward on, John Carroll

He broke his foot. This team is designed around him/his skill set (as it should be) and most of the players seemed content to watch him do his thing and see what happens (which was the problem in the tournament game last year and not how it should be).

My Streaks are in trouble...unless Pete Moran has more D1 nephews who can transfer in, this season will be disappointing and next season will be worse.

Dr. Acula

That stinks.  The OAC race opened up just a little if he is out for an extended period.  I still think the Streaks are the favorites even shorthanded.  They have more proven talent than anyone else.

Dr. Acula

So 6-8 weeks recovery after surgery would be mid-late January.  I'm curious if he will opt to try to red shirt as mentioned in the article.  I'm not familiar enough with the JCU roster to know who will be back next year around him if he does red shirt.  If some of their key guys will be gone that may be a tough decision for him.  You're going to want to try to come back and make a run, but giving up the majority of your senior season sucks.
