Wheaton sweeps Babson in the big DH at the Beaver Lodge. After losing all the pitching they did Corr is now 5 - 0. Nice day for the Lyons, hoping to make it a great weekend with a win over USM tomorrow!

The Lyons broke out the bats for a 27 -2 win over Roger Williams as Corr improves to 6-0. Ya Boy!!!

Wheaton again regular season champion.  Just pounding the ball and pitching is coming around.  Are they the best team in New England?????   Ya Boy and I say they are!!

Hobbesy

They are looking pretty darn good and especially with the NEWMAC tournament coming up this week...look out though if Babson can get Aizenstadt back...it may not help against this Wheaton offense but stranger things have happened so far this spring.

Although I have still surprised Curry took all three games from Wheaton...

YA, Boy

I cant quite nail WC in on the number one spot in NE...agree with hobbsey the three losses to Curry and UMB amongst others leave doubts. Everyone seems to be having these types of seasons, but in the coming weeks the men will separate from boys and the cream will rise to the top...

Word from Wellesley is that Aizenstadt won't be back this year for the Beavers. They could still catch fire like they did last year in the tournament and prove why they were the number one team in NE earlier this year.

Unfortunately the Beavers have also lost their Freshman DH Chris Kutcher who broke his thumb.  He'll be out for the rest of the season.

willows478

Wow! He was having a pretty nice freshman campaign too, leading the team with 6 homers. The Beavers might be in trouble without that big bat in the lineup. Is that known for sure?

Hobbesy

Wheaton moves onto the championship game tomorrow with an 11-4 win over WPI and Babson is trailing Coast Guard 4-1 in the fourth of an elimination game.

Not looking good for the Beavers.

YA, Boy

Roads paved for the lyons gotta come out and expect a game from a surging Coast Guard team who proved they can play with the better NE teams beating Babson and WPI in one day!!!!!
Prediciton:
Lyons pick up the loose ends of USCGAs pitching staff tomorrow and lay it on...but the bears will not go down without a fight as they pounded out hits today vs the beavers and engineers...should be fun to watch

The NEWMAC Tournament Champion, Wheaton, led the way with five All-Conference selections, including the NEWMAC Player of the Year, Dan Haugh (Andover, Mass.) and Rookie of the Year honoree, Sean Ryan (Norton, Mass.). Wheaton head coach Eric Podbelski also earned his ninth NEWMAC Coach of the Year award. Babson had three First Team All-Conference picks, including NEWMAC Pitcher of the Year Michael O'Brien (Shrewsbury, Mass.). MIT received the NEWMAC Sportsmanship Award for the third time in four years.

Pitcher of the Year: Nolan Corr VS Michael O'Brien
ERA: Corr 0.89  - O'Brien 1.91
W-L: Corr 8-0  - O'Brien 4-2
Innings: Corr 50.1  - O'Brien 47
Opp AVG: Corr .230  - O'Brien .260
Head to Head: Corr won 2-1

So who is Pitcher of the Year: O'Brien....?
----This doesn't make sense. You must have misspelled Corr's name with O'Brien's.

Also, Lieneck, Skelley, and Jensen are all hitting .379, .354, .359 with 20+ RBI's each. Not one of them are mentioned. Their averages are better then several First team members and better then a .291 avg on second team...

Wheaton had a great year and were certainly reward.  Coach of the Year, Player of the year, 4 first team All Conference selections.

The 2-1 head to head matchup between the two was a great game.

Hey, I'm dying to hear any news from the NEWMAC!  Does anyone know what's happening with the teams?
Who makes their spring trip here to AZ?  I'd like to get out and see them play since I don't think I'll be going to FL this year to catch Babson playing.
