This Saturday marks the last game in the storied career of CNU Head Coach Matt Kelchner. I have had the pleasant honor of knowing the man over the last 17 years. First, after he was first hired by CNU in 2000 and he came to speak to the men's club at my church. Last summer I enjoyed the company of Matt and his wife. Kathryn, as they joined my wife and I at the house for a cookout with the world famous Coach Shockley wings! Here is a link from the local paper about Coach and his tenure at CNU. 16 seasons. 108-60. Only one losing season. 10 NCAA appearances. Numerous All-Americans.

He built not only a program, he built what is CNU Football. With Integrity. 16 seasons. 168 games with one more to go. And not one single time was a CNU player ejected from a game!

An end of an era for sure.  I certainly hope CNU can replace him with somebody that keeps the program going in the right direction.

Wesley wins.  I am heading to Alfred to see the Saxons take on Fisher for the E8 championship.  See you next week for the playoffs.

Safe trip!  Now to see if Wesley gets a home game.....if they win.

Really liking the fluency of the offense over the past 2 games for Wesley. Just in time for the playoffs!

Frostburg leads Salisbury 14-7 at halftime.

It is going to be interesting to see where Wesley ends up tomorrow night. As I'm writing this, Mount  trails JCU 31-28 w/ 39 seconds to go, and SJF was defeated convincingly against Alfred which I would think would help Wesley in the RR.

A huge congratulations for making the playoffs to the players and coaches for the 12th straight season. After starting 1-2, things looked pretty grim, but they hung in there, got a few things to go their way and are rewarded with a Pool A bid. I think Wesley trails only Mount Union and UMHB in consecutive playoff appearances.

Down goes Mount Union! This has a huge impact on the North and East regions....

Crazy day!  Wow, I am stunned over MU losing.  I am so impressed with JCU withstanding a 3 TD run in the 3rd to hold off the Raiders.....

Slow start by Wesley, but by the 3rd quarter it was all back ups.   Now to get focused for next week.  I hope Frostburg can eek out a C Bid.  They definitely deserve it.  Fingers crossed.  It was great to see Wesley get presented it's first NJAC title trophy at mid field.   Great to be part of a comptetivie conference for once.

I heard this today...interesting....in the 2 years CNU has been a member of the NJAC, we have beaten the conference champions. Now if we can beat everyone else!! CNU finishes 7-3. Not bad after being picked 7th. Now the fun begins. The search for a new HC has officially begun.

wesleydad

congrats to Wesley for winning their first NJAC championship and also to Frostburg for tying at 9-1.  There is a chance that Frostburg is the first team on the board for the east with Fisher and Albright both losing today.  If they are the first on they are almost certain to get in.  As far as the playoffs go, the brackets are going to be very interesting this year with Mount losing today.  Does John Carroll, with a loss get moved East when Alfred is sitting there at 10-0?  I hope the east, I know they dont actually call it that, ends up being east teams.  Some real nice match ups if it happens.

Congrats Wesleydad!!  I hope the Wolverines run the table.

They have definitely found a groove.  Conference life is a sweet safety net for poor starts.  Y'all earned it this year.

Good luck.  And Frosty has a better resume than Mount IMo!!

What is the feel for Stevenson? This will be an early test for a Wesley team that has developed throughout the season, and I really do not know how far this team can go. Looking at the Del Val-Stevenson matchup, neither team had a ton of offense. The longest scoring drive for Stevenson was 40 yards, and they had a pick 6.

I think John Carroll will take care of Olivet, as they took a thumping by SJF at the beginning of the year 52-10. That means a potential Ohio matchup looms again for Wesley.

Saw them play Widener.  Offense is just average.  They rely on defense and special teams to win games against top teams.  I think they will have trouble covering Wesley's receivers and the running game should be able to gain yards.  They will come after punts so Wesley will have to clean that up.  If Wesley can get pressure without blitzing Stevenson will struggle scoring.  I expect Wesley to get at least 24, can Stevenson get that many, probably not.  I expect Wesley to win this game and move on.

I never saw the John Carroll twist coming.  I guess Wesley is always doomed to travel to Ohio in the playoffs regardless of how MU places.  I figured that JCU would be their 2nd round nemesis.  How wrong I was.

Check out the season JCU had in 2013.  They absolutely dominated their schedule, even moreso than they did this year.  Their sole regular season loss was by a single score to Mount Union in the final week.  Then the following week St. John Fisher went to their house and beat them in the first round of the playoffs.

It's certainly within the realm of possibility that Wesley do the same thing, should they advance against Stevenson.

Teamski

No way Wesley can afford to look past Stevenson.  That is for sure!  This isn't a typical 1st round match up with Stevenson having handed Del Val a convincing thrashing (even though we are talking early season issues for Wesley, for which a lot of things have changed for the better since then).

One game at a time and if anybody knows that, Wesley would.
