On a different note...
Phil
Check in if you're lurking...we'd like to make sure you're ok.  Houston is a long way from the NJAC but we don't forget our brothers in Texas!  Especially now.

bman: I e-mailed Phil earlier today to make sure he and his family were OK. So far, no response.

Interesting game for Wesley with Del Val tomorrow.  Seems like strength against strength, Wesley O vs. Del Val D.  Del Val won last year with their D playing outstanding game.  Wesley will have to avoid turnovers to win this game.  Will be watching the O line to see if they can open up the needed holes for the new running backs.  Figure on a slightly different scheme since they do not have the bruiser Baynard.  Will keep an eye on the linebackers to see if they have improved and if the D backs are more aggressive in coverage, taking away the dink and dunk stuff that kills Wesley.  Wesley needs to start the year off with a good win.

REALLY looking forward to watching the game tonight.  This is a great thermometer to see where Wesley is on both sides of the ball.  I hope Falkenberg improves for this year.   He needs to be consistent.  I really like how E.J Lee ran last year so we will see how the pair handle the defense.  With Kesack covering WR, we have some relatively unknowns at back-up QB, but from what I hear, they show a lot of promise.   We will see how synced Falkenberg and Okike are...... really happy to see James back.

As usual, keep the game clean and Wesley should prevail.  A couple bad Int's, fumbles, and/or penalties will be kryptonite as they usually are.

Cut out and pasted from my week one predictions (as well as final season standings.........I was spot on last year:) over on the MAC board:

Week One Predictions:
Wesley - 24     DelVal - 20     I don't see Wesley losing in consecutive years to anybody not named Mount Union, Whitewater, UMHB, John Carroll, etc. Too much on the defensive side returning and a QB with a full year under his belt. Games are won and lost in the trenches and this is Wesley's big advantage.

I've been hearing from my buddies down in Dover (and from a Wesley transfer) that the coaches and players are playing up the revenge, "they came into our house and took what was ours" angle for months, and especially through the Spring and Summer camps. I'd be shocked if DelVal takes the home and home series from Wesley. DelVal has always somehow played Wesley tough, even when the talent levels weren't particularly close. They are a bit closer now, but not two in a row closer. We'll see. That's why they play the game.

I've got Mount Youngstown/University of Wisconsin/UMHB taking the trophy (I also have the Golden State Warriors). Who wants the field? ;)

I wonder if Del Val still uses ankle deep grass at home.  Man, that was some slow stuff the last time I visited.

Careful, bman, lest you have Kate on your case ....  ;)

Mistakes as usual. Block in back, missed coverage, fumble and it is ugly. Falkenberg had 2 receivers to throw to on fumble instead chose to run it. Offense moving ball but it is bland. Defense too soft on coverage.  Big whole to dig out of and another unsportsmanlike penalty to start next drive.

Audio and video arent working, but Wesley off to a poor start. Following on the live stats. 16-3 Delaware Valley in the 2nd quarter after a long fumble recovery. Wesley commits an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the following kickoff.

Looks like Wesley went to 7/11 and got a big gulp of the bad stuff.  A deplorable first half.....   :'(

Yikes. 22-3. Ski, are you able to get anything besides live stats?

wesleydad

I am there and they are not good. Defense is poor. O line is horrible on pass blocking. Offense is boring. Penalties as usual. Del Val is better prepared. Only positive is EJ LEE.

Teamski

No..... It doesn't matter.  Seeing three fumbles in 3 consecutive plays with the third one returned for a 70 yard TD and 51 yards of penalties.......lives stats is all I can take right now...... gah.....

Wasn't sure if that was a live stats mistake or not. They need to get in on this drive.
