Wesley drops to 22nd following the loss to Delaware Valley. Frostburg jumps 6 spots to number 11. Del Val at 12.

Frostburg is somewhat an enigma to me. Wesley handled them last season, and they went 10-1. Nationally, I don't think 11 is the right spot for them based on the result last season against a below average Wesley team (which was the only team on their schedule to really "do something" in terms of playoffs). But that was last season. Anyone care to throw in their two cents re: Frostburg?

Remember that rankings are based on what is going on right now vs what happened last year.  I keep being reminded of that, hehehehe.....

I understand that. But so far they've beaten a Stevenson team that supposedly has lost quite a bit compared to last year. October 7 will be the tell all, but hopefully we will find out more when they play CNU and Rowan.

Joe Callahan was released by Green Bay yesterday.  I hope he can find a home elsewhere in the NFL. He had a really quiet preseason with not a lot of opportunities to impress unfortunately.  Very proud of his performance with a preseason to remember last year that impressed a lot of people.

resigned by Green Bay on practice squad.

Not sure what to think of CNU yet, as Southern Virginia isn't exactly a measuring stick...the Captains won w/relative ease, but did allow over 300 yards of offense, which makes me a little nervous about their defense.  The next couple of weeks will be more telling, particularly against Frostburg....

same concern here. Although in listening to the game it seems much of the yardage given up was when 2nd team was in.....then the coach would throw the 1st team back in to slow down drives. Not good. Second team needs to step up. Never know when it's your turn on the field.

Per Delaware State News, Wesley lost QB Nick Falkenberg for the season due to a spleen injury. Scary stuff. Hope he makes a full recovery.

Looks like Khaaliq Burroughs will be tabbed the starter. He was on the roster last season and transferred in from JUCO place I believe before that. The article mentions Wesley needs to find a backup, and there are a few interesting options. One QB, Sheckells 6-4 240, seems to have spent some time on Old Dominion's roster.

Scary indeed!  I heard about his spleen but I didn't know how serious it was.    I hope he recovers ok.  I kinda liked Bryce Drakeford's film from high school.   I don't know about his availability.

Wow, that is not good for Nick.  Hopefully he recovers well.  That changes everything in the NJAC.  Wesley will have to figure it out.  Nice thing is they have 4 weeks to get things going well.

Ski, agree with you about Drakeford. The film looks solid.

Wesley has been in this situation before and it has worked out alright. Hoping it will this time also.

4 weeks to get the o line used to run blocking and start pounding the ball with Lee.  The pass blocking was poor and Falkenberg did well to avoid sacks on numerous occasions.  Run, Run, and Run somemore.  Then you can use the run to open up the passing.  The defense is going to have to step up and shut teams down, not falling behind by 10+ before the tighten up coverage.  Ability should still be good enough to win most games.

I hope the Wesley QB has a speedy and full recovery. That's a serious injury.

As far as the next guy stepping up, Wesley always seems to find a QB that does that nicely.
