Good season for Wesley.  Went as far as they probably could catching Brockport in the second round.  Looking back at the game, the difference was QB, receivers, turnovers, and game plan.  I stated earlier that Brockport had the advantage at QB and it showed yesterday.  Germanario made plays when needed and took what was given to him via the game plan.  Short passes all day and receivers who caught the ball and did something with it.  Wesley did the opposite, Burrough made some nice plays but the turnovers were not good.  The fumble on the scramble that turned into a TD was not even a hit by Brockport, just dropped.  The screen pass looked like a mess from the TV coverage, couldn't tell if it was a good play by the defense or poor pass.  The receivers did not help him much with at least 6 drops, some on key plays that would have kept drives alive.  What I did not understand is why Wesley never went to short, quick passes, which they have thrown all year.  The O line was Ok at best and struggled to give Burrough time.  Brockport was playing 8 - 10 yards off and on the snap dropped leaving the 5-7 yard passes open all day.  I could not tell if the other fumble was caused by the ground, but should have been put away so it could not be knocked out by Brockport or the ground.  This game was even, 28-21, after the first drive by Brockport in the third.  4 plays later and it is 42-21 and over.  Well, not really.  Wesley scores to make it 42-28 and the defense gets several stops in a row only to have the offense fail to punch it in and cut the lead to 7, with the help of the Brockport defense.  Brockport scores on a short field and a pretty even game ends up a blowout.  I will still say that these teams are pretty even.  If both teams play mistake free this is a barn burner.  Switch QB's and Wesley wins the game.  Brockport is good, real good.  I expect them to win this weekend as I think Del Val will have trouble scoring.  I will be making the trip to see what Brockport brings live.  I think that is the end for either team as neither one is good enough to beat UMHB.  Now if St. Thomas beats UMHB, don't see that happening, then all bets are off.  Good luck to Frostburg and their trip to Alliance.  Enjoy it and play hard, you never know, shock the world.
From my vantage point on the screen, I saw the Brockport defender pick up the screen and cover it. Burroughs throw also seemed too low in the air. A more experienced QB throws that away or at the feet of the receiver.

The third quarter was obviously a killer... I think the game really sped up on the Wolverines after the fumble that was caused by the ground, and against a good team like Brockport that is a recipe for disaster and they were able to salt the game away. Additionally, I thought that Wesley had an advantage at WR, but as evidenced by the drops, they did not make the impact they should have had on the game. Germinerio really picked apart the Wesley defense in the passing game. I was impressed with him. Good luck to them next week and the rest of the way.

A popular saying in Northeast Ohio is: "There's always next year." It will be interesting to see how Burroughs matures over the summer. With EJ Lee returning it'll keep that running game intact. WR will be a question mark with Kemp, Okike and Kesack departing. The d-line I believe is relatively young, but they will have to see who is playing LB next season with Manna and Sabino leaving. But, as always a great season for Wesley. What the program has been able to accomplish year in and year out is really remarkable. The team's 13 year playoff run can only be rivaled by the likes of Mount and MHB. Truly a pleasure to be along for the ride throughout that time.

Good luck to Frostburg next weekend in Alliance. We will see if they have the offense to keep up with Mount Union.

If I were in charge of recruiting for a college at any level, I don't think I would sleep a wink until I got at least one stud QB in the fold.  I know it's stating the obvious, but a talented QB can cover up so many ills.  And a mistake prone QB can negate other team strengths in a hurry!

Remember that Wesley lost their starter in the first game of the season.....

Oh for sure, and I wasn't indicting Wesley with that comment in any way. They have had some of the most talented QB's in the nation over the years. I was more reflecting in general on how a team of 100 guys, how important that one position is to the success of the team.

I know I am late, but congrats to Wesley for an awesome season. Also, good luck to Frostburg this upcoming weekend. I know its a tall order, but limit big plays and don't let the name sike you out (you have more to be concerned) and you have yourself a game.

Speaking of Frostburg, we interviewed JR QB Connor Cox and SR DT Niles Scott yesterday:

No injuries!

Yeah, I am really rooting for them.  Hopefully their fans don't get anything thrown at them.....

Why would you think we would throw things at Frostburg fans? What's the basis for your comment. Maybe it's just because you could never beat Mount. I don't know.
Bottom line. Mount Union is still playing, Wesley isn't. Nuff said.

This is from personal experience of being at Mount Union twice and seeing the townies there throw a cup or two at Wesley fans on at least one occasion.  I'm not making this stuff up.....

That said, after attending the Ithaca/Salisbury game, I guess any time you put fans of opposing teams in the same stands, then this sort of thing happens.  In DIII, you usually have fans separated by the field, but at places like Alliance, this isn't possible, so you have run ins.  I had an apology by a Mount Union assistant about the incident because he saw and heard it too from the press box next to me.  Both of us watched from the camera booth.  He said that they couldn't choose who gets in and sometimes they get the "townies" that are already have drunk when they get through the gates.

Happens in many D3 stadiums that dont have visiting stands.

Hartwick being one of the most notorious.

If they dont heckle you and throw cups from the stands or intentionally trip you as you walk by , they get you from the hill behind.
Not a nice place to catch a game

A thousand apologizes. Never knew this happened but, if it did, I think I know who it was. We have tried to put a lid on these guys for years. They're just plain jerks.
I'm Mount Union class of 1957. Yes, I'm still rah rah, but hopefully old enough to treat others with respect. I have always enjoyed talking to people from the other schools.
So again, I apologize for doubting you and apologize for the mentally challenged in our midst.
Good luck to Wesley next year. We all know they'll be back!

I find easily offended people rather offensive!
