Hello All, not new to the site but forgot my username/password and changed my email about a year ago so, starting over...Saw my Red Hawks scrimmage against Lackawanna who appear to be a big 10 feeder school at this point. We looked good, some of the young guys def hit the weights in the off season, looking forwarding to seeing how we perform tomorrow, our O line is big with 4 returning starers, WR's are all with experience under their belt, defense is quite fast, now we gotta put it all together.

I have a family member that attends. They are like every other community college, guys expect to be out within 1 or 2 year's depending on the playing time and film. Some do transfer to DIII schools here and there.

Quiet week on this board. Seems everything went relatively as planned. Montclair and CNU both got OOC wins. Only thing that was relatively surprising was that Rowan eeked by SVU. 20-17.

I watched the Rowan game and I was expecting a big win, however the Knights gave the Profs a ball-game.

I also watched a good amount of the CNU v SVU game last week.  I can say that SVU was an improved team; their offense and QB were more efficient.  If SVU continues improve at this pace, they'll carve out a few NJAC wins this year.  Rowan played well enough in the first half but overall they had too many mistakes (i.e., penalties).

Rowan's QB, Riley Giles, is still young (Only 2nd career start) and the play calling still seems limited; however, Giles was extremely efficient 20 comp of 28 att [0 ints] and found his main targets 10 times (WR Rehm, TE Madden).

I assume some factors that impacted both team's performance were weather and field conditions, while the Profs also had to deal with the long travel and late start.

On to WPU next week in Glassboro... Go Profs!
Go Rowan! Brown & Gold!

I mentioned a while back...keep an eye on SVU. The ODAC will have their hands full in a few short years!

Yeah, I am familiar with Lackawana, I played at Montclair from 01 to 05, scrimmaged them twice, just their roster seemed to really increase with the caliber of D1 guys from when I played, hopefully some of them who don't receive a d1, come to Montclair next year lol

As that school establishes itself with the Mormon base, it's going to grow. It's quite a niche. For their club rugby team, W&L has a few guest players from SVU since they don't have a team. I think they are allowed 3. Anyway, the boys are some big Pacific Islander kids who actually grew up playing rugby and they are making a difference in the W&L team, which has gotten pretty darn good for a small club program.

If the SVU football team can tap those Pacific Island kids and others that just aren't BYU size/speed, but still want a Mormon education, SVU could turn into something. The school does need some help though. It's... not an impressive place to visit, to say the least, whereas BYU is very impressive. So I think, despite 20+ years of incremental improvements, they are still struggling to convince students to make the choice to head there as opposed to being in Provo, whether they can play football or not.

Had a chance to see Montlclair this weekend vs Salve Regina, was a nice redemption win, we had I believe two td's called back, one was complete BS but it is what it is. We have speed like real speed at the WR position, our QB was I must say very efficient, saw his reads, went through his progressions, our O line is big and physical, certainly areas to improve but if one man can improve an O line that would be Coach Giancola.

We have a good 1, 2 punch at RB with Merckle (older brother was an All American at MSU and played Area 1) and Barr a speedy back who took one to the house for 50.

Defense, as always was flying around, players need to trust their technique, if they would have, Salve wouldn't have scored, special teams had a return for a TD and blocked kick, which I like to see, the young group was energized, engaged and were making plays.

All in, I like what I am seeing from this group, they need to get better everyday, correct the errors made because the season is only going to get harder..

I'm doing good. I was back at my perch after a little over a year absense. It was tough watching the boys if even on the computer. Boy was I surprised on Saturday and I will be back this coming weekend against So.Va.

Observations from Sam Mills Field:

Parking $7, Admission $10 and $5 for Seniors. You gotta be kidding. >:(

Was I shocked when I saw the Red Hawks play. We now have a real QB, a power running back with speed in Merckel plus 2 other wery quick running backs ahd good receivers. I like the O Line. We score 30 in the first half and ONLY 7 in the second half. The Ref's were lousy and you gotta live with that. We still don't have a killer instinct. You have to burry these guys when you have them down. We still have to learn that. I also see a little nasty streak like the old days but 150+ yards in penalities will not work. Better teams will eat you up. I think that there is a real possibility to win 7+ games this year if we keep improving every week.

I thought of you specifically when I saw that Jeff Pearlman, author of many sports biographies, did a ranking of all-time USFL players and had Sam Mills No. 1. I've pre-ordered his book about the USFL which hits book stores tomorrow. Here's a link to it on Amazon:

...and a quote from the book on Amazon: " It secured multiple television deals. It drew millions of fans and launched the careers of legends. But then it died beneath the weight of a particularly egotistical and bombastic owner—a New York businessman named Donald J. Trump." Well golly gee wiz, what a shocking revelation (not) for those of us who grew up in the NY/NJ area in the 60'2 and 70's! He's still working his "magic".

LOVE that Mr. Pearlman had Sam Mills #1 when he had Steve Young, Jim Kelly, Herschel Walker, and Reggie White among others to choose from!
