I have basically been pretty quiet this year. Everyone knows I'm a big Montclair Homer. I have never played completive Football but have played College Soccer when the dinosaurs roamed in the early 70's. I have been really disappointed in my Red Hawks the past 5 years or so. Nuf said. I think we were picked to win 3-4 games this year. I'm also very superstitious and OCD.  I hoped we could maybe win 5-6 games this year if lucky. I was at our 1st 2 games and said not so bad with the exception of big penalty minutes. Lost to Salisbury by 3 and Frostburg by 7 with a late TD pass towards the end of the game. If the Queen had balls she would be the King. The penalty minutes came down and we beat Wesley 10-9 today and are 6-2 and should finish 8-2 if we stay the course. I will put Montclair as #7 in my ERFP tomorrow when I vote. That being said we will not make the Dance, but we have definitely come together as a team and not a bunch of individuals. The future looks good. I'm proud of my Red Hawks and of course "Keep Pounding".
Rams,
You deserve to enjoy the win today and a successful  season. Beating Wesley was a great accomplishment today. Also, your 2 close losses(good losses) were to very strong undefeated teams , Frosty and Salisbury. Good luck to the Red Hawks, they may not make the NCAA dance, but they deserve respect this season, and certainly a decent ranking in the ERFP.

Salisbury played its best game today at Rowan. The Defense turned up the heat all day and didn't allow anything. The offense finally looked dominate. I would say that Salisbury needs to get better on Kickoff coverage, almost allowed 2 tds, the last one didn't think the returner was going to come out. Would have loved to see a shutout after have two redzone stands after those big returns and a fumble inside out own 30. The FB runs really opened everything up this week. The defense continues to improve, I can't say that enough. Shockingly, there is still room from improvement for this team.
As a diehard Navy football fan, I love watching the triple option, and the Seagull's triple option was a thing of beauty today... too bad it was against my Profs.

I will be rooting for them to represent the NJAC in the big dance.
Go Rowan! Brown & Gold!

A W is a W....so yay!!!! Buuuuut......offensively, this is probably the worst performance I've ever seen from CNU. 13 points against Kean. And the defense kept giving them the ball by getting turnovers. Offense gave up 7 sacks. The only spark was when the #1QB finally entered the game in the second half. He led a nice drive for the sole TD. The CNU defense was overwhelming! CNU offense turns the ball over on own 6 yard line and Kean gets zero points out of it. Then CNU turns ball over again on the 5 and Kean gets zero points.

Question for coaches and players.....don't you have your backup QBs practice the same cadence as starter?  Just sayin'.

And a funny story. During the game Kean receiver #7 was cutting across the middle and took a savage hit to the ribs. Slow to get up. After the game I'm walking back to the car with my wife and the Kean team is heading to the locker room. My wife walks up to #7 (she noticed he was still walking in pain) and asks if he's going to be ok. His reply, " yes ma'am. I'm just old".  :D :D :D.

CNU85

Looking at stats and reading the post game story. 27 yards rushing on 40 attempts. 3 turnovers. 12 penalties for 95 yards. Against a 1-7 team. Ok, be happy with the W, be happy with 5-2.

I have Never, ever, ever left a football game as utterly pissed off as I was today.  I had to really bite my lip not let out a string of profanities that would have had me arrested.   I am still in cool down, so I have to be careful what I type, but I am pissed!  Seriously.  Another one point loss the difference of a missed PAT and it was ALL avoidable.  The defense was perfect.  They played their game and the offense and special teams didn't.  I told the guy next to me at halftime that I was sure that Wesley was going to lose by a single point.  And sure enough they did.  Outrageous instances that lost the game for Wesley:

1.  4th Quarter:  Wesley stops Montclair short of the endzone.  4th down.  Montclair misses the field goal however Wesley jumps off side and boom, 1st and goal.  Result:  TD.

2.  Wesley drives right down the field trailing 10-9.  Beautiful.  They even get a pass interception in the endzone.  They have the ball on the 1 yard line and is ready to go up by a TD (with a 2 point conversion of course).  No problem right?  Nope, the QB fumbles the ball and Montclair recovers it at the 2.

3.  Finally, Wesley gets the ball back and misses their last chance, a missed 23 yard field goal with 3:06 left in the game and the rest is repeated history.

I hope that Wesley will start another QB to get him ready for next season.  Nuff sed about that.  So Wesley drops consecutive games for the first time in 15 years......

This Wesley team is 3 plays away from possibly being 8-0 and winning the NJAC where they would be a top 2 seed somewhere and have 2 home games in the playoffs.  It is a shame that they were not able to make the plays.  Even if they were 8-0 they would not have much of a chance to win it all because they just are not good enough.  I see 4 teams with a chance to win it all, Mount Union - UMHB - Brockport - UWW, that is it.  The drop off to the rest is pretty big in my opinion.  It still would be nice to have a playoff game or 2 to go to since I was only able to make 1 game this year.  Oh, well, I can make the trip to Del Val for at least 1 game figuring they will have a home game.

Officially a down year for Wesley. Yesterday's game was just weird. Seemed like Burroughs was off with passes downfield. Defense played well.

Wesley's offense is reliant on good QB play and we just haven't gotten that consistently this season. 14 turnovers in 8 games. Not your status quo Wesley QB.

Injuries on the defensive line have hurt the run defense, and the offensive line has to get a little better. Although, they weren't exactly at the level of a team like Brockport last year, even with Gono in the mix.

I used to travel that 4 hours to watch Wesley decimate Frostburg.  No thanks.  Good bye to the top 25 for a while.  It was a great run!   :'(

I've been apart of many of those beatings unfortunately.

What are the odds?  Both my favorite college football teams, Wisconsin (born and raised) and Wesley come into this last weekend 5-2 and ranked 20th in their respective rankings.  Both lose and get bumped out.   Weird......

A lot at stake this upcoming week for my Seagulls, we have a big game against the team up Route 13 at home. I was so shocked with the performance against Rowan, they didn't look like the team I saw over the past month or two, maybe Rowan got to high on themselves or Salisbury offense finally found their groove, I don't know. Salisbury Defense again looked amazing, the D-Line was relentless all day. Again, there is room for improvement for my Seagulls, they can improve in some of those minor areas where Rowan had success (i.e special teams) and some other areas that allowed that last touchdown. I think Wesley offense will be the best that the Seagulls have faced all year, however I think this will only help them in the long run if we make the playoffs and try and make a run into Round 2 and 3. Early weather predictions show rain on Friday with cloudy skies on Saturday (always appears to be cloudy when we play). Will make my prediction later in the week. Seagulls have to stay hungry. Although there weren't that many top 25 teams playing quality opponents last week, we had the most picks to get upset and I'm pretty sure that's going to be the same this week.

Was bored for a few moments and thought about next season, and non conf games and then wondered why Frostburg was going to DII. Is it possible that an athletic program moved their entire department of sports teams for the sole purpose of football? How good is the DII conference they are moving to in various sports. In looking at FSU's CAC performance, it is below average at best. An in conference winning percentage of 38.1%. The highest place in a sport was 3rd place for Women's Swimming (with a 2-3 record). Average placement was 5th place for all sports. I'm sure there are numerous considerations to ponder. Way too numerous for this board. It's just where my brain went for a few minutes.

I interviewed the CAC Commissioner and he had some insight on Frostburg State's move.

Yeah, Wesley went the opposite way, going to the  Athletic East Conference just for that same reason: they couldn't compete at the same level in the CAC.  Interesting how different schools go.   One had access to scholarships in a state sytem that could improve their performance and the other simply went to a conference with more like-skill leveled teams....
