njlincolnlion,

Me too !!!  Salisbury appears to be quite impressive. Maybe you can spot us a few TD'S. LOL

It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

I don't know if we can afford to spot any points  ;D.  You know how the saying goes......"On any Given Saturday").  Note I took the liberty to change the day.
Hold fast to dreams,
For if dreams die,
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.

Glad to be aboard.  I am looking forward to see how this board shapes up with topics over the next couple of weeks.  I am sure it can get pretty interesting.
Masey rating...any validity to it?
I hope the Cougars can build off this win; defense played well.  Offense has some big play makers out there.  The score wasn't any indicator of how the game was controlled for 56 minutes by the cougars.  Offense needs to cash in on the turnovers and field position.
Defense looked tired out there the last series.
BYE week already - the coaches will have our boys right for Cortland.  Let's not forget about what happened up there last year boys.  Pay back?

By the way, were is Phil (especially when we need him so badly !!) ??.........
TCNJ stunk-up all of Mercer County last friday night, and it could very well happen again this saturday afternoon...starting this season w/ 2 very credible contests right off the bat is very tuff, but should help them in the long run.... the defense played only 1 senior friday night (shanklin, & he wasn't going to play as of wednesday afternoon) .... freshman boff lead the def. w/ 18 tackles, tranchina & nish also played well... the offense was the big mystery for me....all the key returning players were the ones that made all the mistakes....also the mules just might be a little beter then people have been giving them credit for .... they should play a lot better this saturday, but cortland has been pointng to this season since they began their rebuildg 2 years ago....beating them 5 times in a row just doesnt seem to figure for me, but if the red dragons watched the lions game film from last week , they might be over confident.... this is our dreaded "rebuilding" year, only 7 seniors on the squad, 1 is the kicker, kotteles, roye & brown on offense... nish, shanklin & mayes on defense(mayes is not a starter & i think he to is hurt ?)... prior to the camp even starting i felt if coach ham & his staff could find 6 wins this year w. this crew, that it would be a minor miracle... now 'll take 5

I think I figured it out

RU Fan

Profs need to find a kicker.  Second year in a row where every kick is an adventure.  ???

After missing the first extra point and the first field goal, they should have let Orihel throw on 4th down.  He was throwing at a 70% clip all day and has some of the best receivers in DIII.  Orihel, Wright, Silva, D'Imperio, etc.  don't help you when you kick it.

Practicing field goals should be done in practice--not on game day.

Over 600 yards of offense and only 21 points can come back and bite you on the a**

RUFAN,

Your post makes sense, but would you want to trade headaches? ;)

RU Fan,

Both FG's and the extra point had the distance, but the kid (Kulik) pulled both.  If he can work that out, he's got a decent leg. Spahn isn't bad either.

You don't get points for distance.  They could have easily blown the game with those misses.

Bottom line is, 4 kicks, zero points.........and on the blocked kick, CNU recovered the ball on about the 50 yard line.

Lets hope that you're right and they work it out.

I've got to believe that if they would have gone for it on 4th down, the way that Orihel was throwing, some points would have come out of it.

Pat asked why only 21 points from 600+ yards......answer is simple......too many blown scoring opportunities.

CNU was aggressive up to the end because RU never put them away.  :-\

Dr. xGSC

RU Fan,

RU dominated on both sides of the ball. The stats (other than the score) dictate a dominant performance. Yes I know, stats don't win games, only the score does.

I attended practice yesterday and was very impressed with the size, speed and athleticism of both the O and the D. One thing that stood out was the togetherness the team had (picking each other up, high-fiving, and overall excitement of just playing the game as a unit). The one key that I saw that has been lacking in some years past, the  :-[ aggressiveness  :-\ is back and will carry them a long way.

Kicking was worked on a great deal yesterday. Kulik was banging em from 35-40 yesterday pretty regularly and didn't miss an extra point.
LONG LIVE THE BORO!

If you do ANYTHING, give it your EVERYTHING!

JT

RU Fan,

Very true.  Hopefully we start converting within 40 yards.  We had some good kickers in the past Frade, Migliori, Gaton "Gator" Leone (sp).

xGSC,

The running game looked very good against a good running defense in CNU. UE has very good feet and is very quick.  CNU was giving the underneath stuff.  The time-of-possession really helped the Profs in the 4th quarter.

Finailly got a little press in the Bergen Record. An article on the QB's from MSU and Willy P. who were former receivers.

JT, great Pic. Animal House, an all time great !!!

What are you basing your assessment of the CNU's run defense on?  They lost all of last year's starting D line, half of their D-backs and only return their three starting linebackers.

RU has the ability, talent and cohesiveness to go a long way however, let's not get too excited at this point..

xGSC

Thanks for the info.  I agree that RU dominated the whole day but as I mentioned above, I don't think that CNU is where they would like to be at this point.

I hope that the kicking game comes around.  Game pressure does strange things to that rare breed that we all call ..."kickers".  ;)   The ones that you remember are the ones that get it done.

You're right, it does appear that the "Swagger is Back"  ;D  Attitude and confidence go a long way in this sport.
