It's becoming crunch time unless the decision makers feel teams can pull-off a spring season with a short training camp.
Go Rowan! Brown & Gold!

RowanPhan

Just saw on social media that Rowan has canceled Winter sports and they also canceled plans to try to get some Fall sports in the spring.

Feel sorry for the athletes, but these are crazy times.  Be safe everyone!

If safety is Rowan's focus, then I would assume they cancel springs sports too. Otherwise the message wouldn't make sense.
Go Rowan! Brown & Gold!

Per Delaware State News: Wesley DE Shymere Vessels will transfer to Delaware Valley for his senior season... more writing on the wall perhaps...

One player transferring doesn't make an exodus.  Now if you see a rash of transfers, then we got a problem.  I'm really surprised that we haven't gotten a decision/ schedule for a spring NJAC season at this point......

I like the optimism Ski! I hope you are right. Wesley still has a bunch of key pieces on its roster, hoping to see those guys on the field at some point.

I am hoping we get some good news soon. School hasn't started yet I dont think, so hopefully then.

He's not the only one rumored to be making the move from Dover to Doylestown. I can't name names and none of them might happen, BUT adding Vessels to the Nobile brothers makes one imposing front 3!!

Well rumor also is that Del Val's coaches have been reaching out to Wesley players, which, of course, is illegal.

I can speak to that "bs rumor" directly (and you can't). There isn't one DelVal coach who has made contact with ANY Wesley players. Some Wesley players are making contact with coaches (allowed) and players are talking to players (allowed). A bunch went to high school together and/or played in the same conferences. Also, DelVal has had several recent impact players from the state of Delaware (Shawn Miller, Nick Digati, Sammy Mohr to name a few) who also have back channels. Also, that playoff game on Wesley's home turf probably has at least a few players thinking about making a move.........especially if the program becomes the Titanic!!

Remember, the student athletes here are all that matter. The wants and desires of football fan alums truly mean squatta in the scheme of life. I'm a Swarthmore undergrad who happens to live in bucolic Doylestown, so I have zero skin in this game. These young men have to look out for what is best for themselves. If Delaware State / Wesley are leaving these kids hanging........shame on them and most should look to move on. I believe they know what is about to happen, and are struggling with just how to announce it and avoid a mass exodus.

Rant over.......................

I wouldn't put a "bs rumor" like that out there if there weren't good reason. There are text messages. The stuff you allude to may be happening, but there might be other things going too.

Agree though that the student athletes are what matters here, and I am not pleased with how Wesley-Del State is handling the situation. From what I have heard Wesley anticipates playing in the spring. After that, well, your guess is as good as mine.

There have also been several Wesley to DelVal transfers over the years (Devante Ford, a player who's name escapes me but went to Pennsbury HS in the Philly Suburbs, a LB a few years ago (Purcell possibly) so this is not new. Several DelVal folks frequent these boards (but don't comment) so I'm sure that you're allegations of direct contact made by their coaches (without a parent or player reaching out to them first) has already made it to the coaching staff and the AD, even before the screenshot I took and e-mailed to several of them.

Remember again, the student athletes matter the most and from contacts I have in DE (Bank of America execs who have been helping with some debt refinancing at DSU-Wesley), these students and student athletes are kind of being strung along by the institution(s). I understand why from a purely financial standpoint (a mass exodus prior to the 2021 Spring Semester..........and a further weakening of enrollment for the 2021 Fall Semester would be a death knell for Wesley as a quasi-stand alone) with the loss of tuition and room/board/fees revenue, BUT, they owe it to everybody to make the tough announcements that they seem to be reticent to do.

I truly wish the institution and all of the students and student athletes nothing but the best. I have been an adjunct professor for many years and I know what the unknown can do to students.

Sounds a bit extreme but ok. Best case is my rumor is misinformed and nothing happens... or they investigate and find something amiss. I really don't think many coaches or admin tune in or care about what is said on the boards. They have jobs to do and rightfully so.

To your 2nd point, I get the impression as well that that is what is happening with Wesley/Del Val. I hope it all works out to what I, and other football fans, want it to be, but there are arrows that point the other way. The program must try to push on though.
