Devin Curry, Jr WR too

Thanks for the info Jason!! I hope all of the student athletes wind up landing in great situations for themselves!

@d3jason

Biggest news today is that Latrell McCants lost his life last night.

He was the Wolverines leading rusher and scorer this spring as a freshman out of Suitland, MD. I am not sure where he was headed next season.

My best to his family, teammates and coaches. Devastating  :'(

@d3jason

I have tracked down a few more but out of respect, I will post them at a later date.

Salisbury released it's upcoming schedule on Twitter (https://twitter.com/SeaGullFootball/status/1395771575744532483/photo/1). With Wesley leaving, there is still room for another game. Playing 9 games for the 2nd straight year is upsetting. Nevertheless, I'm excited to see Albright on the schedule, a night game on September 3rd, this matchup is always very interesting. Also, excited to see UW-Whitewater visiting the Eastern Shore of MD on September 11th, a great addition to the schedule, and on the 25th against Western New England, which is a very respectable program from the NE. The schedule is a good reflection of the coaching staff, they are willing to play anyone, anywhere, anytime. Also, with UWW on the schedule, this indicates to the players, that if you want to be the best and compete on a national stage,  you have to play the best. Now back to not having 10 games as of today. I think the open dates are September 18th and October 9th, I know the staff are willing to travel within budget constraints, would be nice to get that 10th game even if you have to meet a team half way and play at neutral site to limit overnight trip cost. Surprised to not see rematch with UW-Oshkosh on September 18th as both teams have opening.

I read the sad news about Latrell McCants the other day.

My condolences to his family, friends, teammates and coaches.
Go Rowan! Brown & Gold!

@d3jason

Safety Marcus Gaspard, Delaware St
DE Jamuel Cypress, Delaware St
DE Matthew Gore, William Paterson
LB Jay Holmes, IUP
WR D'Andre Curry, Fairmont State
QB Brady Walters, Widener
LB/SS Mike Brewer Shippensburg

I am thinking a lot will just continue at Delaware State.

Interested to see where NJAC DOY Dante Daniel ends up.
Freshman DL Marcus Johnson looked like he was going to be a player this Spring, out of the same high school (Suitland) as Latrell McCants.
I know the coaching staff loved the versatility of RB Leroy Pendleton, out of Philly's Archbishop Wood,who could play FB, H-back, TE and run the ball.

Great info Jason........keep it coming. I'm glad for those continuing at DSU and the two players going to the PSAC. Hopefully they got nice packages to do so.

Daniel, Johnson and Pendleton are three of the players I'm most interested in seeing where they wind up. I'm a little surprised that Walters wound up at Widener, as I had heard he was headed elsewhere within the MAC.

Glad to see the Wesley players finding new homes (including at DSU).  As a Rowan fan, obviously I would be happy to see some of them land in Glassboro.

In Prof recruiting news:
Rowan Football social media has announced 44 "commits" and I assume this count will continue to grow.  Majority of the recruits are from NJ, however the list also includes one each from DE, NY, and PA. Rowan is really close to PA and DE so hopefully they land more talent from those states in the future.

Another interesting update via social media is Rowan's top rusher from 2019 (and the 2019 NJAC rushing champ) Messiah Devine recently announced his commitment to Wagner College - while sad to see him go, I'm super happy for him since I know he's an extremely hard working kid.

Other Updates
It's a long way to kick off and I would assume the next big update from Rowan would be information regarding their annual Ocean City NJ practice. This is a fun event and I'll attend if they hold it.  Additionally, I believe they also have a scrimmage in the summer sometime before the season kicks off (I don't recall information about this scrimmage last year so it's a closed scrimmage). Now that I live closer to Glassboro I'm going to attend as many games and practices as I can.

I expect Rowan to return a handful of players but I believe they will rely on a large crop of new faces.  We won't know the full team until Rowan shares their annual Preview video and post the updated roster.

NJAC
I'm wondering if anyone has info regarding whether or not the NJAC has plans to add another Football member.  Right now Rowan has only 9 games and if the league doesn't grow, scheduling OOC games will (I assume) be a pain going forward.  I also assume no one from the NJAC, coaching staffs, or administration reads these forums so I hope we can discuss openly as passionate fans and not be viewed as complaining.

Go Rowan! Brown & Gold!

That is the conundrum. I don't want to see them do the two games against the same opponent that some of the West/Midwest teams face  and do very often. With the pandemic, I know cross country trips to the NWC just won't do, even meeting halfway is an overnight trip. So those many teams with 9 game schedules are out of the question, unless a happy/wealthy donor(s) gets involved. To try to answer the question about 9 games, I think it's going to take some type of partnership arrangement with some other conferences. We play the MAC, Empire8, NE teams...CNU is close enough and has history with the USASC and ODAC, so they don't really face the issue. Salisbury on the other hand, being on the Eastern Shore of MD and not to far from NJ is in the state of limbo. Teams that geographically would be a good fit to insert, would be Stevenson (MD), Catholic (DC), Gallaudet (DC), Johns Hopkins (MD), McDaniel (MD). However, Stevenson has no issue because most of the MAC schools are closer than the NJAC schools and Salisbury. Catholic and Gallaudet are in conferences that from a competitiveness standpoint fit them, I don't see them changing unless cost was a major issue. Then Johns Hopkins and McDaniel has the non-athletic barrier and attachment to the CC, they pride themselves with the affiliation of the CC that has high educational standards. Also, they are well positioned as far as travel. If I really wanted to, I'd ask (beg and plead) with the MAC to allow us to play 2 to 3 games against their 12 team conference.

Edit: Another option would be to add Apprentice School as an affiliate member. Looks like the ODAC did that this year unofficially.

As far as your answer, do coaches look at site. Yes and quite often. This portion of the site is viewable to the public. They don't comment 99% of the time due to obvious reasons. However, best believe they follow it and will use anything to fuel team. This is the site for all DIII football afterall and with everything this site does here and on twitter and other social media platforms, the players and coaches are following.

CNU85

The ODAC will have a more open schedule after this coming season as E&H moves to DII and SVU moves to USA South, leaving the ODAC with 7 teams and thus each team needing 4 OOC games. Looks like The Apprentice School is picking up some of that slack this year. Perhaps there is something in the works.

Averett is moving from USA South to ODAC next summer, looks like that was announced back in March. So there's an 8th team.

Thanks CNU85, good to know.

Any insights on CNU recruiting this year?
