Nice run for Salisbury. As now a bystander, I was hoping they would give Mount a little more of a game.

Interested to see where the Sea Gulls go from here regarding the option. I would also imagine it impacts recruiting as well, especially at the positions of QB and WR. You'll probably lose those QBs that can sling it, and good quality WRs as soon as you say the word "option." Salisbury definitely has the facilities and commitment to be a big dog in the East, but I think the option holds them back in that way as well. Would they consider making changes in the coaching staff?

Congrats to Salisbury

Another great year in the books for our teams.  Rowan made some strides, I hope many of the key players return next season.

Next I'll turn my attention to Rowan's nationally ranked baseball team (I hear we have some very talented new players on the squad).

Always a pleasure chatting here on the boards with the other NJAC fans, I'll see you guys in August :)
Go Rowan! Brown & Gold!

Salisbury Post Game against Mount Union -  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FG5aCVay0jM

My initial thoughts is what I mentioned in many of my post. This Salisbury team was very, very young and had to overcome the worst scenario "Ever" for a team that offensively runs a spread "triple" option offense. Losing 4 quarterbacks by your 3/4 game and having a freshman captain the offense going forward is never something an offensive coordinator would like to have. However, as the FB/RB mentioned, the other players rallied behind the young freshman and fought through the season. Facing a Senior laden Mount team, while having a bunch of sophomores and freshman starting at key positions was a big part in Mount's domination last weekend. The star OLB that had the block punt mentioned that what was shown was not Salisbury defense. I'm sure that all the defensive players feel that way. He did mentioned that there is a possibility that 75% to 80% of the defense will be back next year, which is always a good thing. I think when your offense runs the spread "triple" option, your defense has to be the catalyst to succeed in the playoffs.

Coach did mentioned that they will use this game as motivation and learning situation. I think the Salisbury program has established itself as being well respected to what is does internally and its processes. Salisbury has played the cream of the crop over the past decade and have taken steps in the right direction to set a foundation to continue to be very successful. Obviously the next step is to hit the recruiting trails, what type of players that can mirror the elite teams. I also will re-iterate that until we get both O & D lineman that can just line up and dominate, both offense and defense have to become much more multiple in what they do.

Can't wait for next year. Excited that Coach announced that Salisbury will have one of the toughest schedules next year, playing the likes of Johns Hopkins, Muhlenberg, and I believe a return trip to UWW or UWO. Then a in-state rivalry game against McDaniel. Will love for them to schedule an OAC team in the next few years as well or get Stevenson back on the schedule.

Delaware's 3A HS Football State Final will be Smyrna against Dover on December 10. Lots of Wesley ties on both coaching staffs. That I know of: for Smyrna you have Mike Judy and Chris Sfamurri (former Wesley OL coach). For Dover you have Chip Knapp (former Wesley OC and HC), and Alex Kemp (former Wesley WR).

If I am correct, Sean Greene and WDEL will be on the call for that game as well.

Did Knapp not look for a position elsewhere (i.e at Del St?) or did he want to go to the HS route?

@d3jason

He is the head coach at Dover High School.

Just saw the schedule for Salisbury and it looks like Salisbury will play W&L to open the season then an away game at Muhlenberg and home game against Hopkins. That would be 3 of 4 non-conference games with Salisbury playing the 4th (McDaniel) later towards the end of the season. At some point these tough non-conference games have to propel Salisbury over the hump. Salisbury is well respected nationally for its consistency over the past 20 years and the staff has pretty much been the same at the top for the past 20 years, the staff has done a tremendous during that time frame. However, I think looking at the past two the three classes, one has to think Salisbury is due for a huge run in 2023/2024. The reflection after this past season still probably stings after significant injuries to 3/4 QBs and an extremely young tea, so 2023 and 2024 will be a huge telling on where Salisbury goes as a program as I see Salisbury making a huge transition in the next 5 years or so. Salisbury has to be much more dynamic defensively, in recent years, Salisbury defense has played very well in the 1st half, but midway through 3rd, yet either a missed assignment or penalty allowed the Tier 1/Tier 2 teams to open the game up, whereas the offense appears to have a good drives early on and early in 3rd, but can't do much after. Hopefully the talent in the last two to three classes can get them over the hump. Here's to hoping that Salisbury can make that '05 UWW jump after they scheduled Mount in '03 or the NCC jump, where they kept knocking on the door for a 10 year period to finally getting that big win against a Mount/UWW. Also, wouldn't mind the UMHB change in offensive philosophy moving from 95% triple scheme to a more 65% to 35% with the same principles still incorporated.

First day of Summer has arrived.  The Lindy's football preview is on the shelf at Barnes and Noble. It all means football is right around the corner.

I'm digging into the Rowan updates. It looks like they'll bring in a talented group of freshman. Several key players should return. I think Rowan will be very competitive in 2023. As we get closer to the season, I'll post a more detailed team preview.
Go Rowan! Brown & Gold!

The Third Division

I wonder how many iPads it will take for them to win the conference.

I think you are right in a lot of your assertions. A tougher schedule will help. However, I think you nailed it when you mentioned a change in offensive philosophy. The current offensive philosophy has proven to work great during SU's tenure in the NJAC. But once the post season starts, it is a different story. I went back to the schedules/results to 2015 when SU joined the NJAC. I took the last game played on the schedule (a post season game) and the results are 0-7 and average losses of 32-13 with only one game a one score contest (Alfred). Once into the post season, teams are more disciplined and a lot faster. To me, that is the key to SU's success. (It's also probably why I don't roam the sidelines anywhere!! haha!)

Hey all! New to the board been following d3 football on the east coast for a couple years now. Came across this board and felt like this would be a good place to talk and learn more about the thoughts of others in the d3 world! Looking forward to a great fall for a lot of teams!

Not a super fan of any team but follow Salisbury and CNU. They played a pretty impressive conference championship game last year as well.

That was a good game. I would have preferred a different outcome, though! HAHA!

Rowan is one week into camp. The team looks solid, should be an exciting season. For now, they are using all brown helmets in practice, curious to see what their game day uniforms will be.

Any news or updates from the other NJAC squads?
Go Rowan! Brown & Gold!
