Gordon,

We need Phil... he either is disputing someone or someone is disputing him.  He might be the straw that stirs the NJAC room.

ACMob

Are there any WestCONN FANS OUT THERE!! :o  I remember in the beginning a WCU fan named Blu(e)blood or something of that nature.  The specific conversation as I recall was about there lack of competition within their old league and it was said-- "well come join the NJAC."  The school did and it's NOW TIME FOR WCU fans to hop aboard!! 8)

OH!!  Rowan's going to SMOKE WestConn THIS WEEKEND!! ;)

Maybe that'll get 'em going!! ::)

JT

There was blueblood, dmx, and Rodman... all either graduated or flunked out and lost interest.

Rodman was perhaps the funniest smack talker on post patterns.  He beats all these wannabes to this day.  His 1999-2000 stuff was awesome.  I think he's a grammer school teacher now.

Pat Coleman

I am still waiting for those Western Connecticut fans who called me out in 2000. They said they would meet me at midfield after the Stagg Bowl. Haven't seen them yet. :)

A PHIL ALERT !!
Does anyone have any idea what happened to our friend Phil ?  Hope that his absense is business (trip) related & nothing personel or serious...TCNJ looked a little better  vs. Cortland then they did the first week. They actually had the ball inside Cortland 20 twice when the score was 20-14... double covered pass intercept from the 16 & then the blocked field goal (ball was on the 6).... all of Cortlands points came after turnovers, all of Cortlands drives started in TCNJ territory.TCNJ will improve , obvious problems will be agaianst Rowan, B-Port & W-Conn... the remaining games , they should be in, however, Cortland must bring  better "game " when they face Rowan. What i saw from the red dragons last week will not beat Rowan.

flash

Cortland historically gets better as the season goes on, problem was they couldn't get off to a good start. This year they have managed to get that good start, and their defense is playing good. Hopefully their offense comes around as it has in the past, and they can give Rowan a good game as they have in the past 2 years.

JT

thementor,

I know that Phil was contemplating a new career direction, maybe that has kept him from posting.

ACMob,

Rodman posts about what he was going to do to my Mom or my girlfriend when he got down to "Dirty Jersey" were my favorite slams back in the day.  It was so disgusting that you knew he wasn't serious.

My second favorite were his posts about his wife and drinking blackouts.

I don't think any of these topics had any basis in reality, but he made me laugh.  He was a great West Conn supporter during that period.

Flash:

I saw the Cortland/TCNJ game and that Cortland team will not beat Rowan.  Rowan just has too much this year.  ;D

Mentor:

I agree with your assessment of the RU/Cortland game.  Cortland defense looked good but are they good enough?  TCNJ should have scored at least twice more but, as you said, the int and blocked FG just looked ugly.  Somebody posted a review of the game earlier in the week and said it was a win but an ugly win.  I have to agree with that.    The Cortland offense looked sluggish all day and, if not for some TCNJ breakdowns, would have looked worse.

However, the game is at Cortland this year and Cortland is usually tough at home.  Should be a good game. ;)

flash

RU,

I agree, that team will not beat Rowan. But cortland as a team is looking better than they did last year at this time. So I'm hoping that they improve every week, and can bring their A game against Rowan and make it interesting.

I really miss the West Conn fans too, Rodman and Blueblood were my two favorites.  Phil used to really rip into them and most of it went right over their heads.  Classic posts, Pat should publish a book of Posts, it would be an instant classic.

I disagree with the statements about the Cortland-TCNJ game. Aside from TCNJ's push in the second half to cut the lead to nine, their offense did absolutely nothing against the Cortland defense. Take out the long pass play from Bell to Kotteles, and thats half the offense right there in terms of points. The Lions didn't get a third down conversion until the fourth quarter and their running game with Brown and Schoonover was vastly ineffective. Brown was hit hard each time he got the ball though Schoonover still impresses me.

Was Cortland's offense shaky? Sure, but its only the second week of the season and like Flash said, it will get better as the year goes on. Nice to talk smack early if you're Rowan, but aside from Cortland's offensive changes, these are the same two teams from last year when Cortland nearly beat Rowan at Page Field if it wasn't for a horrible kicking day for Cortland.

As for TCNJ, I feel that Coach Hamilton's got a rough year ahead. They'll have to play better this week to beat FDU-Florham. I wouldn't be shocked either if Chris Bell got the start under center.

dpadavona

Bell will probably start.  Struble wasn't pulled last week, he was injured on a sack.

I wasn't talking smack just stating what I saw.  Was the Cortland defense that good or was the TCNJ offense that bad?  Haas and Monpetit however, are the real deal.  Watch the game and you make the call.  Schonover was the only productive part of the TCNJ offense which looked to be in  total disaray.  Is that because they were or because of the Cortland defense.........probably some of both.

Just as the Cortland offense/defense will  improve...the same can be said about RU.  You are what you are.  I really don't have anything negative to say about the Cortland program. I'm sure both teams will bring it when they meet.  RU isn't taking anyone lightly!

Like I said, it should be a good game but it won't be decided by the kickers this time.
