PBR...

then again eli hasnt gotten his team to the big dance either  ;D....detmer is no longer the back up jeff garcia is and actually timmy chang(who played at hawaii and broke just about every ncaa passing record) is now 3rd string

Philly fans should be kissing the hairy beanbag of a certain syracuse QB who loves his momma and campbell's soup. He's done pretty well on a team with no great WR's (sans the T.O. meltdown). Then again you could of drafted Ricky Williams.

Seems like Ru Fan and myself have touched a nerve in respect to some Philly fans.  Getting to the dance???  I remember a line that Sean Connery had in the movie "The Rock", when he was speaking with Nicholas Cage...

Cage:  "I'll do my best?!?"

Connery:  "Your best?  Losers are always talking about doing their best, winners go home and fu%^$&*# the prom queen.

In respect to Mr. Chunky Soup, #5 is absolutely a decent QB, but the Eagles will never, ever win a Superbowl with him behind center.  If you look at a majority of the QB's that have superbowl rings, they have something that #5 does not... Fortitude... Anyone can throw TD's when your team is playing the Texans, but how do you play when your back is against the wall???

By the way...

Congrats to the PROFS in their preseason ranking as #3.  I'm sure the Linfieldians are disgusted that they are at #7...  But, sticking true to my philosophy, #3 is the second loser, behind #2 who is the first.

PBR...

>>> Anyone can throw TD's when your team is playing the Texans, but how do you play when your back is against the wall??? <<< true...true....we all saw how well manning played in the playoffs when it really mattered...

Oh no not another 'philly sucks!' guy....... :o.  Do they clone these guys?

I belive that is a guy named Peyton who has beat up on the Texans twice a year.  He comes from a family that in known for being good regular season players, hence fantasy darlings.

I'm not sure if you have an accurate pulse of 'philly' fans.  First we don't call ourselves 'philly' fans, only tourists and/or espn 'expert' fortune tellers use the term 'philly'.  If you asked Eagles' fans if they think that getting to the SuperBowl and losing is satisfactory almost all would say no.  Most certainly the players themselves are not satisfied, but we aren't players.

However, most knowlegable football fans would agree that getting to the SuperBowl and losing provides more entertainment than say having all your veteran's pack it in for the 2nd half of the year and fans rooting for a head coaching change.

While Rowan hasn't brought it home in the last 10 years, would you compare them to any other team in the NJAC as far as success?  Which team in the NJAC does the majority gun for?  How many teams do you suppose have 'Rowan Week' practices and make that game the season?  I'm sure this brings no comfort to Rowan players and coaches, but the fans sure have something to beat their chests about.

Who would sound more pathetic?  A Rowan alum taking jabs at a fellow Kean alum about Rowan recent dominance in NJAC football, or the Kean or any other NJAC school whining back that "You didn't win the big game!"  These could easily be translated to small children argueing who's Dad could beat up who's Dad then after it was established which was inferior, the inferior's son saying well 'Mike Tyson' beat up your Dad.  Childish.

To sum it up fans don't get rings only the players do.   The fans take their enjoyment from the thrill and the ride and are often entertained with getting there.  The fans did not sweat it out all summer or play thru injury then come up short.  A fan has the rest of his life to rely on to spectate, while a player a very little window.

Wow,

My Karma has taken a hit today, was positive in the am, now at lunch.. I'm in the red.

Let me try a build up some Karma this afternoon.  THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES ARE THE BEST TEAM EVER.

If in Novemeber when the political polls come out, the following will get my vote:

Ron Jaworski: President of the United States
Mike Quick: Vice President
Brian Dawkins: Secretary of Defense
Correll Buckhalter: DEA chairman

Don't be dismayed >:(.  My karma takes hits daily even when I don't post.  I have a really dedicated fan club.

When it comes to being a Philly hater ... I used to be a Philly lover... but when you get disappointed as much as I've been with Philly teams... (pick whichever one you like) ... its tough to stay on board.

I agree with your assessment of Chuncky Soup #5 and whether the Eagles will win a Super Bowl with him.  Owens got thrown out of town for telling the truth about him.  Chunky Soup is a choke artist.  When he thows a touchdown, he dances like an immature high school kid and dunks the football over the goal post ... when he throws an ugly interception, he limps off of the field ... injured again.  Don't pi** down my leg and tell me its raining!  By the way, I don't remember Montana, Elway, Marino or Young dancing like American Bandstand after a score.

Kurt:

I've hired a staff of analysts to try to find out what the hell you are trying to say in your post.  Does it come with an instruction book?

PBR...

then you never really were a philly fan....would you abandon ru? they have gotten to the playoffs many times like the eagles and havent won lately which i am sure is disappointing so do you abandon ru?

uPBRmeASAP:

I see your point but you really aren't comparing apples and apples.

Have I been happy with RU not winning it all? ..... Absolutely not.  But I certainly appreciate the dedication and effort of the kids.

When you consider the Eagles and other Philly teams ....you know, the multi-million dollar underachievers .... you have to look at them with a different eye.

You really can't compare kids who play the game just for the pure enjoyment of it to a bunch of self-impressed, arrogant, (in most cases, multi-millionaire) underachievers who succeed at little more than making excuses ... Andy Reid included! ;)

PBR...

ru just havin' some fun with ya...the long wait for us philly phans for championship is more than frustrating!!

Right on, Brother.  Where is Tug McGraw when we need him?  The Tugger is gone but not forgotten!

Gordon,

Thanks for the Karma, I'm out of the Red...

Well at work early this morning, and looking down at my calendar and noticed that it is now the second week of August.  If my memory serves right, I believe most D3 schools either start practice this week or early next.  Time to SUAP... Shut Up and Play!  First game is less than a month away, and with preseason scrimages around the corner.  I'm anixous to see who will step up and fill some of the spots left by graduation.  If the Profs can get some kids to fill Silva's and Wright's shoes, we should be pretty damn good and extremely close to a balanced team.  With the majority of the Prof defense returning, and with Orihel and Encarnacion on offense... all I can say is WOW.  Although, even with the loss of Silva and Wright, I can't imagine that the offense is going to have to score 40 points to win games, because that is how solid the "D" is going to be this year.

GOOD LUCK PROFS!!!

Let's see if I can get you a little more excited .... As I posted a week or so ago, from what I heard from a friend of a friend of a friend, etc..... (you know how that goes) .... this year's Prof recruiting class (transfers and freshmen) is supposed to be one of the best in years.

I don't know how true that is but the source is pretty reliable.

With who the Profs have coming back (including Orihel & Encarnacion), just add a new player here and a new player there and look out. ;)

Its also important for the guys who weren't starters last year to step up also.  Fortunately, a lot of them, at just about every position, got substantial playing time last year.  There's no substitute for game day experience.

This is a great opportunity for some new names to make a huge impact and help get the Profs where they want to be in December! :D
