Gro remembers the WestConn posters and (cough) may have posted once or twice while still a player at RPI.  They were a hilarious bunch and opened the door for what became today's LLPP.

It would be good to have more teams represented in post patterns. Where are the Kean fans?

Pat Coleman

I am still waiting for those WestConn folks to meet me on the sidelines at Salem. They promised they would. :)

Pat,

How is the entire West Conn team going to get sideline or press passes for the Stagg Bowl???

Pat Coleman

Yes, you gotta get into the Stagg Bowl first. :)

The TGP will bite.

I am very intrigued by the WPU-Hobart match up this weekend.

Are they the NJAC doormat of years past?  Or the club that surprised the shiz out of Rowan last season?

Where the hell is WPU anyway?  New Jersey?

Will Bruce or Bon Jovi sing the national anthem before the game?

Doubt that think this is Bart's first game in NJ - but it has been years since the Statesmen rolled down to the Tollbooth state.

HC/WPU cont'd....

Bart did not play like a Top 25 team last week.

Their D got lit up for almost 400 yds, but did come up with 3 huge turnovers.

Their running game was non-existant so I imagine Coach Cragg will be busy this week trying to revive the once potent Hobart running game.

Based on the Dickinson game, I would expect WPU to see a good dose of passing from the Statesmen.  #1 LiDrazzah is shaping up to be a go-to receiver for our Sr. QB (who may have a shot at some AA looks depending on how the year plays out).

Here's some pre-season dirt on the Bart:

What's the dirt on WPU?

...that Jimmy Hoffa may or may not be buried beneath it.

Wayne, NJ is where it is located.  Its in Northeast NJ.  Wrong turns could land you in some unsavory areas (Paterson NJ is a major drug area).  The area around the college is middle to upper middle class.... so no worries.  Just don't go off the beaten path.

They have field turf.  I think WPU surprised a few teams last year.  They snuck up on some teams looking to mail in an easy win.  Unlike the 15 years prior, they actually brought people in who can recruit and coach.  They may lack the talent to match up head-to-head, but don't take them lightly.  They'll capitalize on a lack luster performance by an opponent.  If Hobart takes WPU seriously, the Statesmen should win by 3-4 TD's or so.

WPU of the past was a disorganized mess.  Coaches had no clue, players had no clue... it wasn't hard to hang 50+ on 'em w/o breaking a sweat.

Any information on Kean?  What do look for? Key players? They are playing Franklin & Marshall College this weekend in Lancaster, PA.

Thx for the update on WPU.

Us snooty Hobartians can definitely handle the middle/upper middle class neighborhoods of NJ.

However, unless the D plays more like it did in the 4th qtr last week, I don't see Hobart running away with too many games this season.

I love the Peanuts reference. The great pumpkin and linus 's halloween special is definately one of my favorites!

Good luck to all teams this weekend.

Phil - what do you think - is this the year where FDU breaks through in the win column against CNJ?

Quarterback AJ Roque is probably the best player.  Good speed, good arm and above average punter.  Good speed at the Wr position.  Offensive line is OK, susceptible to a good pass rush.  Defensive line has the most inexperience, lost a lot to graduation. DB's and safeties are the most experienced part of the defense.

The hc was fired in the offseason and replaced by the dc.  They were a team on the upswing before the shakeup.  Now they might be regrouping and rebuilding.  Losing to the Merchant Marine Academy is not a good start.

Part of my evaluation is based on the fact that I think Hobart is better than Wilkes and Wilkes beat WPU 31-3

The best player on defense is LB Shadee Davis. He's a playmaker.  Wr Kareem Moon has good speed and decent hands.  The Qb Ryan is pretty good and the TE has D1 size and the HC says has D1 ability, but I haven't seen it yet.  Course I only saw him against Rowan as a Freshman last year.

Oline is susceptible to pressure from a good front four.

I think everyone has the wrong idea about Kean. They are NOW a team on the upside, with their new HC. I was at their first game vs USMMA and they are a good team that had a bad game. It happens. Plus the refs and the weather didn't help! They looked great this week in practice. I think that they are going to surprise many teams this year. Maybe even upsetting a few (MSU).
