I would now want to be W.Conn coming to visit Rowan this week.
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

Haven't heard anything.  Nothing in the papers. Sometimes I don't find out until game time.

I was in beautiful Harrisburg on business on Thursday and Friday so I decided to stay another night in my overpriced hotel and catch the Profs in Pittsburgh on Saturday.  Wow, Harrisburgh hasn't changed in the last 20 years.  I don't know what was worse, having to be in Harrisburg for 2 days or deciding to catch the Profs game!

Nothing really went right for RU all day.  As JT said, muffed punts, fumbles etc. led to 3 TDs by RMU.  I don't think that there were any significant injuries on either side.   If not for the 1st or 2nd fumbles, complexion of game could have been different.  As one poster already said, Orihel proved that he can certainly take a bunch of hits.  He's one tough hombre.  He got smacked around all day.

Team overall looked sluggish and the "rust" of not playing for 3 weeks showed.  Defense played well but the offense had trouble getting in synch for a number of reasons.  I never post negatives about individual players or positions but, to generalize broadly,  there were a number of people who didn't do their jobs on every side of the ball. (Enough said).  I'm sure that next week will be considerably different and that W. Conn will have an interesting afternoon to look forward to.

As an additional note, the NCAA should never allow consecutive bye weeks.  Its just too long to maintain any continuity or "flow".  It also has the potential to lead to injuries.  Coaches always say we did this and we did that to prevent lethargy or "rust" but when you finally get back on the field on game day, unless you play a complete cupcake, you're going to have "rust". :-\

Hey uPBR, just between you and I, I think what the Profs were really doing was saving all of their explosive firepower and scoring for the winner who comes out of the MAC. ;D

Yes, Glassboro ceratinly has it all over Harrisburg in terms of the arts, nightlife and culture!

A pox on the Profs for screwing up my pick-em'.

Not that I care about anything that you or your Lion faithful would have to say but......

I don't live in Glassboro, have never lived in Glassboro and quite frankly, don't list Glassboro on my vacation spot wish list.  So, as usual, what's your point?

Unfortunately, we all can't be as cultured as you and share in the plethora of cultural diversity that Trenton offers.

If the Profs losing caused you even the slightest bit of consternation with your pick-ems, etc., the loss, as distasteful as it was, is almost worth it. ;)

Great idea, but the NCAA has no jurisdiction over how teams compile their regular season schedules. If teams choose not to schedule Rowan, not much the NCAA can do.

RU Fan,

Nicely said.  I'm sure the comeback is being theorized.

Lets hope for a nice bounceback this weekend.  Rowan has what I believe to be the best defensive unit in the history of Rowan.  We have an All-American QB, solid running backs, recievers and linemen.  That recipe at the likes of Mount Union, St Johns,  and Ithica would mean a national championship.  Could the coaches put this one together???

I hope so!

And also, Two bye weeks in a row. You just don't let that happen ???

PBR...

ru fan dvc is coming on quickly....isgro the true freshmen at qb is making strides and looks to be the real deal so with 18 returning starters we wouldnt mind taking a trip to glassboro at the end of season....rowan will probably be in a similiar situation next year when orihel is gone and you have to replace a really good qb (like dvc's knoblauch) with either a freshmen or somone with no game experience. so here is to a third year of meeting rowan in the playoffs!! (with a different outcome..)

To reiterate what RU Fan had to say about the game, I say ditto.  I also don't like talking about individual players, however the RMU's defensive line had their way with our "O" line, and their DB's did a good job jamming our receivers off of the line.  Those two things together, were a recipe for disaster for Orihel, because when your recievers aren't releasing downfield, and you have numerous D-linemen in your face in is difficult to be effective.  I have never seen a Rowan gave in my twenty plus years of following the Profs, when they offensively were completely not effective.

I'm not sure if it was the play calling, and putting Orihel in 3rd and longs to throw the ball, or if Orihel wasn't checking off into better plays.  There were numerous times when RMU had 9 guys in the box and blitzing, and they kept with the running plays, and not try throwing to a "hot" reciever.

That being said, though loss, but our defense looked awesome, but our offensive and play calling simply did not get it done.  The three touchdowns were all special teams related.  I also wasn't sure why we had the freshman punter in there and not McCord from last year???

If a dog was a cat it would bark, and if we didn't fumble the first punt return to open the game, after an awesome defensive series and went down and scored, the complexion of the game might have been different.

I would have to agree that the Prof's will be out with something to prove this week against West Conn this week, and I'm looking for the offense to put up over 400 yards.

In closing for UPBRmeASAP, I'm sure that next year when Orihel leaves, you are going to see a new face at QB for the Prof's.  While Rankin is a solid back-up, he is simply just that.  Similar to a Detmer.  I'm sure that Rowan will find a D-I kid with some eligability left, because if I were a D-I kid looking for a school to showcase my talents at, there is no better place than RU.  Think about it... A QB gets the opportunity to run a no-huddle, run and shoot offense... That is every "throwing" QB's dream.

This loss however had nothing to do in respect to RU competing at the D3 level, and I have a... what doesn't kill you makes you stronger attitude, and the Prof's will rebound well.  This week will be a good determination in respect to this years team's legacy, and will determine the amount of fortitude the 2006 Prof's have.

Good Luck on Saturday, as I will be unable to make the trip down, but will be listening online.  GO PROFS!!!

I dont understand why you rowan fans are so upset....of course losing sucks, but u lost to a solid program and played up after 2 weeks off (which is a joke, other teams should be ashamed of themselves for backing down from a game) u have west conn comming in this week, and i dont think its going to be pretty for them.....i remeber playing rowan was never esay, let alone going all the way down there to play them.......things are setting up nicley for Cortland/rowan match up....the winner should win the NJAC..........
No matter where we go, it's about who we are.......C-STATE!!!!!!!!

PBR...

i dont think they are necessarily upset as they expected a little better showing against rmu...no one really expected them to beat rmu but rowans fans and players i am sure wanted to put on a much better display of rowan football than they did. me thinks w conn is going to be a whipping post this weekend

The Prof defense did hold RMU to 160 yards of total offense (lowest offesive total in 2006 for RMU thus far) with five sacks.  Had the special teams not broken down, the game might have been a toss up.

If this were ever put into action, all the major college bowl games will be over by mid-December.
