actually "JT", the number one major at Ithaca College is business in terms of numbers, in terms of prestige, the physical therapy program is one of the best in the nation and the communication school is annually one of the biggest national award winners.... but you knew all that right?

It's good people like Ithacan's that go to school so that the people that go to your school get shorter jail sentences

I've had a few Ithaca grads work for me.  They're not bad subordinates, but why do they chant booga booga when they're in the can.

Jonny Utah

And Im not a phys ed teacher but lets say I was.

If I graduated Ithaca in 1995 and got a PE job in Boston in 1996 and kept the same job, Id be making 55,000 a year with summers off, weekends off, home by 3 with no grading or paperwork to worry about.......not a bad job if you ask me.

Must not be defining visits the same way we do -- we only have about 3 million visits a year. Maybe hits (every file accessed) or page views?

Its 1,000,000 hits.. but still not bad.

JT, does it count as a hit each time a popup clouds my screen?  If so, I just gave you 36 hits when I just looked at your site.

(great site in all seriousness, wish Ithaca had someone like ya)

I think the pop up generates about 3 cents.  I'm moving to more sports/student/alumni oriented advertising in the offseason.

Everytime I look at the kid's site www.bridgewaterfootball.com, I think my site sucks. Need a redesign in the offseason too.

Who can afford to live in Boston on 55k per year? You'll probably have to work during the summer too unless your wife is making some serious beans!

theoriginalupstate

TheOriginalUpState's Eastern Regional Rankings:

1) Cortland (6-0): Cortland has too much balance this year for Rowan
2) St. John Fisher (6-0): Still two key E8 games left
3) Rowan (3-1): Not impressing anyone
4) Wilkes (5-0): Running the table in the MAC is not easy
5) Hobart (4-0): Squeeking out wins left and right
6) Springfield (5-0): Option can take down anyone in the East
7) Ithaca (5-1): Still have a great chance for the NCAA's w/ SC at home
Del-Val (4-1): Young, improving QB could lead them to a Pool C
9) Alfred (4-1): This team will spoil someones playoff hopes (IC, SJF, Bart)
10) Union (4-1): Too many close games for a team w/ this much talent

Honorable Mention:
Kings (4-1): Gone 4-0 since getting pounded by SJF
RPI (3-2): Everyone wants to play their D, but NO ONE wants to play this O
Montclair (4-1): Quietly having a solid season
Curry (6-0): Grant it, its Curry but they are still 6-0
Rochester (3-2): Playing well but havent put it all together vs Good teams
West Conn (4-1): Lost to Rowan by 7, game vs Cortland will be a good measuring stick.

Original,

Your Top 10 looks good this week. Springfield, Wilkes and Ithaca appear to be the teams to move up in the short run. This week is a big one for Montclair. Let's see if the O can keep improving.

Mr. Utah,
This post may a day late and a dollar short, but if you graduated in '95 and stared teaching right away, you could be making an easy base salary of $64,000 in an upstate school district.  Add another 12,000 to that if you are in the Putnam, Westchester, Rockland area.  Toss in continuing education/inservice credits, thats another 5,000 and if you coach 2 sports thats another 10,000.
That may be chump change in the private sector, but 6.5 hour days and 180 days a year leaves a nice quality of life.  11 years you could be at 75-80,000.
Taste It!

4merprof

I had a dream last night that this weekend that Profs put up 46 points and had over 600 yards of total offense.  I woke up feeling pretty good, then I realized that it was just a dream.

Good Luck Profs in Upstate NY!!!

Well the average houseprice within 20 miles of boston is probably around 500K-750K so yea, your not buying a decent single family home around boston on a teachers salary alone but go 20 miles outside and you can find something good for around 300K.

Ive taught down in Weschester and it was a little less than surburban Boston when I was there.  I didnt look at the current salary steps now in Boston but they start around 33-43K depending on the school system and step 20 +masters +45 credits you can earn a max of 85K in the Boston public schools (the best paying school department in Massachusetts.)

The thing that chaps my ass is that you could buy a house in boston in 1980 for 100,000.  That same house today is 800,000.  So the teacher in 1980 that wanted to buy a house In Newton, or Wellesley in 1980 (lets say Armonk or Fairfield, or Grenwich, CT) could never do the same today.
