Dr you hit right on the head play calling and clock mangement. when its second and long a run up the middle everytime when we need to run hey lets pass. Some of this is basic football 101 why are we trying to create a new wheel. and i still cant understand why we cant kick an extra piont this is college football we have missed 6 in the last 3 games it finally came back and bite us.
Hey if we dont have the horses to run this spread offense change it up we lack speed on the outside dbs are playing press coverage and lbs are blitzing results we are seeing

xdragon58

do u think the problem is that the profs may have gotten to cockey......and thats what caused the down fall this season? Either way, cortland still has to go in to the boro and play A+ ball..the same team that showed up this past weekend we could be in trouble...but the Cortland coaching staff is way to good to let that happen.....get ready dragons, we got an njac championship to bring home
No matter where we go, it's about who we are.......C-STATE!!!!!!!!

rowan's down season by their measures has nothing to do with being cocky and everything to do with them losing their all-world WR's

This is more true than the cockiness.  I wish cockiness was the problem.  The big Wr's are certainly missed, but I think it is the slot Wr's that really make the offense go.  It is the chain movers, the short over the middle guys that Rowan misses too. Losing the Stys twins (would be juniors, started as Freshmen) to the Marines was huge.  The Stys are great athletes and good leaders.

And Wr Joe D'Imperio, another slot guy graduated.  Cortland should be glad D'Imperio's gone, the little guy had game winning touchdowns against the Red Dragons in 2003 and 2004.  Tough dude, he used to run over guys a lot bigger than he was. He would stick a shoulder into a DB and run right over him.

Totals For Week #9 On the Pick-E'm Board.

Can't believe the season is almost over. I'd like to run the Pick E'm thru the playoffs. Keep the picks @ 7 until the number of games reduce. Is everyone for it or not ?

How can I find out about who signed up for the ECAC'S? I think we may have a chance if we win out. HawksNation said no this year. Can anyone verify it?
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

Have been a Prof's fan for a long time.  Been to the five Stagg Bowls that we didn't win.  Was at Mt. Union when we Ended the Streak.  Last year did Union, Del Valley and then Mt. Union.

Been through Wacker, Bunting, Keeler and now Jay.

GSC/Rowan has been the "Beast of the East" for many years.

When Rowan lost out West in 2004, I was getting married after 11 years of being divorced.  Being a divorced father (WITH 3 DAUGHTERS) in December sucks.  For many years the GSC/Rowan f-ball team got me out of depression while deep into December with playoff runs.  For that I will be forever grateful.

At my new wife's to be first Rowan game she wanted to know if the ref's could take away any of our points.  She alsowanted to know if Jay had the players in the right positions.

At homecoming two weeks ago two of my daughters came to the parade and my grand daughter (3 years old) also so came.  My wife, daughters, and two of their friends left at half time because of long lines at the women's rest rooms.

I ended up sitting bedhind a guy (and a wife and daughter) who's son was a freshman and a starter on the offensive line.

I talked alot about the History of GSC/Rowan football and their oustanding progam, Stagg Bowls and the Beast of the East titles.

After 3 1/2 quarters he told me his son had several D-#3 colleges recruiting him.  He told me he and his wife chose Rowan because the coaches stressed grades, going to class, and graduation.  The history of outstanding football teams was not the deciding factor to chose Rowan.

He then stated maybe the Prof's supporters were spoiled with all the success on the field. I think we forget what is really important about the college experience for young men.

I missed the Montclair game.  I was babysitting my 3 year old grand daughter and listening to the game by radio.

I pray ever night for the Stye brothers and that they both come back  to Rowan after serving their time in the Marines.

This Saturday I will be at the Cortland game.  The  Prof's may win or the Profs may lose.  To me, bad mouthing refs, coaches or players is a from of unsportmans like conduct.

I officiated three sports for 20+ years.   Knees got worn out and replaced. You would be supprised at how many coaches and refs are in the bleachers or blogs making the calls and coaching.

If it continues the way its been going for Prof football, you will have to rely on the prof soccor teams to help with that depression.

There are many of us that have placed Rowan football at a different level.  Don't forget, as a fan it is still an athletic competition.  How many of us would drag thier kids and family around the country to watch an average football team play for 2nd or 3rd in the NJAC. (But they all got good grades) Don't get me wrong, I do respect your position, but most followers of Prof football have the ever ellusive National Championship on thier minds.

Looks like it's bust for you!

Profs_Fan:

Thank you for that classy post.

It's too easy sometimes to forget that the guys on the field are kids - the players, not the refs. ;)

That's one of the best posts I've read in a while.

How do you feel about Mount Union?  The team and their fans expect to compete for a National Championship every year.  Successful program draw bigger crowds than less successful programs.  I wouldn't stop going to games if Rowan were less successful, but I wouldn't travel as much I do now.

What I might do then is enjoy other games.  I used to like going to a few Army games every year, but haven't since I started the website.  Or maybe I'll go to a Shoe's game.

Its been a long road since Rowan turned the corner and I've enjoyed the fans, friends, coaches and players over the years.  A title would be nice one of these days.  The Profs have two goals each year:

1) To win the NJAC

2) To get into the NCAA playoffs and compete for a championship

Are Prof fans a little spoiled... yes but so are the fans of any successful program.  I think the coaches and players work very hard.  Sometimes it may be fustrating to watch them not execute, but it doesn't mean that I don't support them.

As much as I like to argue, I can't fight that logic.

PBR...

Profs_Fan:  I'll join the lovefest and also congratulate you on a nice post.  Although, I am a little disappointed, you make it hard to dislike Rowan fans.  First I sit next to a friendly Eagles fan at a Bucs game and now this?  Where are the villains in the world going?  JT, post something quick so my world can get back into balance.

Several years ago, I read in a newspaper in Alliance that referred to Rowan as Transfer U.  Rowan back then had an image of DI transfers, players with questionable character and other not so nice attributes.  But they got to the Stagg Bowl 5 times.

The day after I read the newspaper article we "broke the streak" and defeated Mt. Union.  Several of the Mount Union fans wished us well and good luck in Salem.

Last year's run into the playoffs, beating two udefeated teams on the road with injuries to key players was the proudest I ever was of a GSC/Rowan football team.

When Rowan lost to Mt. Union last year, the head coach made it a point to shake the hands of the Rowan's defensive unit.

I read somewhere last year that the head coach at Mount Union stated his graduation rate was higher than his winning percentage and that was what he was most proud of.

In my opinion "the program" at Rowan is in much better shape then it ever has been.  I would rather have the type of student athlete that presently comes into the program then to go back to Tranfer U mentality.

Rowan has been and continues to be one of the "top shelf" D3 football programs in the country. I am proud of them.
