Have been a Prof's fan for a long time.  Been to the five Stagg Bowls that we didn't win.  Was at Mt. Union when we Ended the Streak.  Last year did Union, Del Valley and then Mt. Union.

Been through Wacker, Bunting, Keeler and now Jay.

GSC/Rowan has been the "Beast of the East" for many years.

When Rowan lost out West in 2004, I was getting married after 11 years of being divorced.  Being a divorced father (WITH 3 DAUGHTERS) in December sucks.  For many years the GSC/Rowan f-ball team got me out of depression while deep into December with playoff runs.  For that I will be forever grateful.

At my new wife's to be first Rowan game she wanted to know if the ref's could take away any of our points.  She alsowanted to know if Jay had the players in the right positions.

At homecoming two weeks ago two of my daughters came to the parade and my grand daughter (3 years old) also so came.  My wife, daughters, and two of their friends left at half time because of long lines at the women's rest rooms.

I ended up sitting bedhind a guy (and a wife and daughter) who's son was a freshman and a starter on the offensive line.

I talked alot about the History of GSC/Rowan football and their oustanding progam, Stagg Bowls and the Beast of the East titles.

After 3 1/2 quarters he told me his son had several D-#3 colleges recruiting him.  He told me he and his wife chose Rowan because the coaches stressed grades, going to class, and graduation.  The history of outstanding football teams was not the deciding factor to chose Rowan.

He then stated maybe the Prof's supporters were spoiled with all the success on the field. I think we forget what is really important about the college experience for young men.

I missed the Montclair game.  I was babysitting my 3 year old grand daughter and listening to the game by radio.

I pray ever night for the Stye brothers and that they both come back  to Rowan after serving their time in the Marines.

This Saturday I will be at the Cortland game.  The  Prof's may win or the Profs may lose.  To me, bad mouthing refs, coaches or players is a from of unsportmans like conduct.

I officiated three sports for 20+ years.   Knees got worn out and replaced. You would be supprised at how many coaches and refs are in the bleachers or blogs making the calls and coaching.

Heard about your post......well said...Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

  profsfan ,
I can not argue with most of your post. I hope nobody here is bashing the players they go out and give 100% on every play. A lot of the frustration is with the lack of adjustments made by the offensive staff.  Its the same every week.
As for the Sty Brothers god bless them and may they come home safe. They chose a path few of us could or would have chosen. It  is men and women like them who put their lives in harms way so that we can have a placed to place post about a game.

I will be there sat to root for our team and win or lose I will be there next fri night to do the same.

"Another Rowan coach said into his headset,"Of the top 100 BS excuses for missing a call, this has to be number 100."

What a strange statement.  Wonder what #1-99 were?
Thousands of fans join in the revelry, showing their Bomber pride and support for the football team. Some fans take the rowdiness a little too far, however, by starting fights, damaging property and tipping Port-a-Potties. -Ithacan, November 10th

I don't think anyone who played, coached, or supports RU/GSC will EVER bash an RU player. At least I hope not. I, along with many others, are all very passionate about the RU program. Many of us have been around for many years, played the game, and have been loyal supporters of the program. It has been a great run for the RU program, and yes, at times over the past 16 years, there have been some hurdles that we have not been able to overcome. This year is no exception. Regardless: I will ALWAYS support the team, but yet I reserve the right to disagree with what goes on.

P.S. Nice post Profs_fan!

Well...

If you all get TOO disgusted with the recent turn of events, you can always jump on the Widener bandwagon  ;D

The problem is, the only way to get to WU is via a Bridge......and I don't want to accidently fall off!

In the mid-eighties I broke down in the TOP of that bridge...

The cops came, and bumped me over to the PA side...and were going to LEAVE me there...needles to say, I convinced them to "bump" me back to the NJ side...where they pushed me through the toll booth...but at least I was alive....best $.50
I ever spent....

I am an IC fan (duh) that will probably be at the Rowan-Cortland game. Who I am rooting for is now for sale. Whichever team can offer me the most karma will have an IC sweatshirt in their stands on Saturday.

I cant agree with the recent rowan post anymore, Prof_fan that was a nice classy post, and i played vs rowan in the transfer U days, and rowan was nothing more then a bunch of cocky thugs....(they had the right to be cocky)....but what i see from watching them play these days, it's like a whole different college......best of luck to u guys this weekend, it should be the game of the year...(sorry to any IC/ SC that may be here.....)
No matter where we go, it's about who we are.......C-STATE!!!!!!!!

xdragon58

man, everytime i post my Karma goes down, i cant seem to do anything right, or is it that I am just a Cortland guy, and they seem to be quickly becoming the team everyone loves to hate.....

Looking forward to a great battle on this Saturday in Glassboro.  This appears to be the best chance Cortland has had to knock off the Profs since the 2001 classic.  Question for the Prof fans....How does this Rowan team rate talent-wise in comparison to the 2000 and 2001 teams?

Several years ago, I read in a newspaper in Alliance that referred to Rowan as Transfer U.  Rowan back then had an image of DI transfers, players with questionable character and other not so nice attributes.  But they got to the Stagg Bowl 5 times.

The day after I read the newspaper article we "broke the streak" and defeated Mt. Union.  Several of the Mount Union fans wished us well and good luck in Salem.

Last year's run into the playoffs, beating two udefeated teams on the road with injuries to key players was the proudest I ever was of a GSC/Rowan football team.

When Rowan lost to Mt. Union last year, the head coach made it a point to shake the hands of the Rowan's defensive unit.

I read somewhere last year that the head coach at Mount Union stated his graduation rate was higher than his winning percentage and that was what he was most proud of.

In my opinion "the program" at Rowan is in much better shape then it ever has been.  I would rather have the type of student athlete that presently comes into the program then to go back to Tranfer U mentality.

Rowan has been and continues to be one of the "top shelf" D3 football programs in the country. I am proud of them.
Great post. For the most part most of the "transfer U" guys were great guys too. Defensive coordinator Mark Hendricks was one of them.

I love these guys, but they better stop calling me sir.  I still answer to dude.  Am I that old  ;)

Each Prof player has a limited time to play the game.  I think the pursuit of excellence helps a player off the field too.  I was never more proud of team than that one that walked off the field against Mount Union last year.  They left everything on the field.

I may analyze the game, but I'll never pick on specific players. Maybe the loss to Montclair was a blessing in disguise.  Historically, the Profs answer a call to arms. I'm looking forward to Saturday.  I hope the weather is good.  May the better team win.

Yes, my pick-em skills equal those of the former NJCU football team, start decently and fade quickly.
