Someone's living in the '90s with this take:

"I know New Jersey schools, like Rowan, are public schools and they can get anyone in they want academically. It's a little harder for a private school in terms of the admissions process, to admit kids," Washington & Jefferson football coach Mike Sirianni said. "That's a huge advantage, but everyone has advantages. You need a 3.5 to get into W&J. You could look at that as a disadvantage, but a kid that wants to study in certain subjects; we're going to get. Where a kid that maybe wants to be like a gym teacher might go to the public schools or state schools."

Good find Pat.  Needless to say Im a little disapointed in Mike saying something like that.  Kind of funny though seeing how Mt. Union has a huge pyhs ed program and they seem to do ok.  Im sure someone could find out what his major was at Mount though.

His bio doesn't say. Wonder why ...

Its looks bad in print but he might not have meant to say those things in the condesending, patronizing tone that the article gives off.  Hes not totally wrong about what he said although many private schools have phys ed programs, especially the ones with good football teams.

Fascinating comments. Especially since one of those New Jersey-public-gym luvin'-colleges is rated higher and more difficult to get into than W&J. And I wouldn't be so quick to but the knock on Rowan before doing some homework either.

Now I'm off to the Texas Bowl to watch Rutgers. There's one advantage to being a NJ transplant besides the cost of living!

JT

Have fun Phil.  Will be watching on TV.

I didn't want to be a gym teacher and went to a state school... That quote irks me to no end....

Anyway, it looks like your team got you a big W tonight, Phil! Hope you had a good one.

Wow, this board has dried up and died. Is there no life in the NJAC outside of the football season?

Hi Pat,

Happy New Year !!!  :)

Football is almost over. What a bummer.

I want to comment on the Daily Dose. Got my Login and Password, but how to get on? They forgot Sam Mills from Montclair State, I think a 5 time All Pro.
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

Congratulations to the NJAC on the addition of Brockport and Morrisville to the NJAC.

I presume that the conference will grandfather the "Cortaca Jug" game for Cortland State the last weekend, and make an exception to the block scheduling.

Nice to see Montclair post their 2007 scheduel. (5) home games, and (4) games with Top 25 teams. Wilkes and Springfield out of the box and then Cortland and Rowan back to back in October. Salisbury is a good non-conference game and then the rest of the NJAC. Time for some payback with Kean. That's my luck, I'll be at my college reunion for the Kean game.  This season will be a real test for Montclair. The "D" should be OK and if the "O" is not so predictable, who knows. Should be a fun year. Any comments ?

I wonder what will happen in 2008. Will there only be 1 non conference game?

LET'S  GO  MIGHTY  RED  HAWKS  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's what happens when you play nine conference games. :)
