Montclair deserves to be top ten in the region!!!!!, no worries we'll take care of business on the field starting this sat when Kean comes to town and we DOMINATE THEM for four quarters of play!!!

dewcrew88,
Just nit-pickin' here, but there is no way on earth that Cortland can be characterized as sitting in the "catbird seat" (as per the Around the Regions piece) for the NJAC AQ with a win against WestConn this week. How can this be when they have yet to play Rowan, New Jersey or Montclair? Cortland may very well prove you right, but in reality this weekend will probably settle little to nothing as far as the AQ is concerned. NJ v. Cortland; Cortland v. Montclair; Montclair v. Rowan; Rowan v. Cortland. Those are the games that will decide the NJAC — and all the other teams have the ability to play spoiler.

...and BTW, you're doing a fine job despite a day job and the challenge of geography!

I think they are in the catbird seat (hey I like the wording!  :D ) because I believe Cortland can beat all three of those teams. It will be an exciting last few weeks.

Thanks for the kudos! I appreciate it.

I hope Cortland beats them too.  Although that last part of the schedule is no walk in the park.  Montclair, TCNJ, Rowan, and Ithaca.  I hate to say it but Cortland could be 5-1 by Saturday Afternoon and possibly go 5-5 on the season.  I feel like  a traitor saying that but anything can happen and that schedule is not an easy one.

I found the ATR take strange as well.  TCNJ is clearly in the catbird's seat, having already beaten Montclair and Rowan.  A theoretical win by Cortland over West Conn changes nothing.

And I also scratched my head over Montclair being left out of the regional top 10.  I would think that win over Wesley would count for more.  I guess I don't get why a 2-loss Hobart team, which includes a loss to Dickinson, is ranked higher than Montclair.  And why is Wesley #3 and Montclair completely unranked when Montclair owns the head-to-head?

Buff St pregame.  Gotta listen on the web again. Was hoping to make it to the 'Boro.  This has been a tough season to try and make games.

That makes me scratch my head too because I thought Wesley is not technically in the East Region?  Montclair's other wins - barely beating decent but not great Wilkes, Springfield, and a mediocre Buff St teams - could have dinged them following the loss to then off the radar TCNJ.  However, given TCNJ's recent success, you'd think that one loss wouldn't "look as bad" to pollsters?

I suppose pollsters are giving Hobart the benefit of the doubt that since they probably should have won the two games they lost (an OT FG in the Dickinson game after fumbling away the lead with 46 secs to go and being 9 seconds away from defeating RPI).

You do raise a valid point though, especially given that CMU (ranked #22 when Hobart beat them) have dropped and Hobart's other two wins (WPI and Susquehanna) aren't much to write home about either.

Not sure if you guys heard about this, but the NCAA is now offering a bunch of games new and old on DVD.   ;D  Rowan alone has a bunch of entries.  Click below to see.  You can search by school, sport, or year.

Thanks Pat, but where I was coming with that question was more based on my wondering why is the ACFC covered in the East ATR while their conference PP and all other related info on this site points you to the South Region?

Didn't Wesley qualify last year to the NCAAs as a South Region team?

Pat Coleman

The Mid-Atlantic column covers quite a bit already -- MAC, Centennial, ODAC, USA South. The ACFC teams play opponents from all over the place. But can you imagine dealing with Brockport State in ... what, the Mid-Atlantic?

Why do we have the NESCAC and NEFC in Around the Northeast when the NCAA doesn't even recognize a Northeast Region in football? Just because the NCAA does so, doesn't mean we need to. We've got seven columns and four NCAA regions -- do the math. :)

JT

From what I remember East ATR took the ACFC so that the Mid-Atlantic and the East would have about 40 teams each to cover.

Just be careful buying any of the RTN 5 (Rowan TV) footage.  2007 is the first time that they have a sports director (real sports coverage knowledge).  For $24.99 buyers might be disappointed with the camera work and the commentary.  All of the other footage is good (ESPN, Comcast).  I expect a big improvement in the RTN coverage in 2007.

I wouldn't trust anything. One of the offerings listed is the 1993 Women's Lax national championship between "College of New Jersey vs. Trenton State".

I know the Lions' woman's program is strong — but not THAT strong!
